        The author lives up to the high standards set in his other historical books. Well-researched yet written to make history come alive.

        Like other books from this author I have read, beautifully written and well-detailed. While this is a detailed account, the book reads like great fiction with character development and suspense, even though we know the ending! Also like his other books, well-researched. Drawing upon newspaper articles and letters written by the participants. In fact, about 20% of the page count is dedicated to footnotes and resources.

        It is a good one man's historical account. To paraphrase John Adams best quote (from the miniseries which I highly reccommend) "no one has written about those terrible times and no one ever will. What happened was much worse than what people now think."

        The Best written History of the American Revolutionary War bar none!

        The best written account of the war with the British. Fast paced, compelling, easily readable. Makes all the participants in our country’s birth human. More retainable history in the one book than I ever learned in high school and college. This book is a keeper to be read again.

        The first volume of a trilogy. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

        I haven't read it yet but I can't wait. I've sampled several pages pertaining to my ancestors who fought the British in this war and the text is a pleasure to read: informed, fluid and inspiring.
