About 6 months ago, I was working on an old external USB DVD drive that didn't seem to work on the laptop I wanted to use it on. So I plug it into the USB 2 port on my "good every day" laptop to try it. Not getting any results, I grabbed my power cord from the 5 volt wall wart and plugged it into the drive. BIG MISTAKE, I inadvertently grabbed a 16 volt cord! This smoked the USB 2 ports on my laptop, Man I was mad at myself, but as luck would have it, the machine still had one USB 3 port that worked! Well for my 68th Birthday, my good wife of 50 years gave me a nice Logitech wireless trackball. I love trackballs so I just had to use it, I use my laptop in my electric recliner where I spend most of my time now. Problem was I also use other USB devices, thus this product. It gave me back my USB ports! Just moved them a bit. So now I have 3 USB 3 ports available when ever I want them. I LOVE IT! The card reader is nice as well, while the SD reader works on my laptop having the mini available is wonderful, no more searching for the adapters so I can use my camera cards, and I have a bunch of little devices that run off them so this makes reprogramming those devices so much easier.
