Billed as a "new evolution" in Konami's perennial dancing series, Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova features a new graphics engine and more than 65 songs for 100 minutes of pulse-pounding music. This PlayStation 2 release is based on the 2006 arcade game and includes a variety of new play modes to attract both novice and expert dancers. A voice assisted tutorial mode is available for those new to the series, while aggressive dancers can strut their stuff in the new battle mode, where rhythmic rivals use their feet to perform attacks and counterattacks. Fun to play
I had this game when I was a teen and it is just as fun as I remember it being. The graphics can get a little fuzzy at times, but I cannot say that it is due to the disk considering the system is second hand and the power cord isn't the original. Overall very happy with the purchase!!

The game provides challenges for all levels of dancers--from adults to the young teens to the elementary school child to the 5 year old. Please note that family members are not listed in order of skill level because I'm still not sure how a fast-footed Kindergartner achieved an "A" on an expert level song... The included gamepad stays in place much better than the Nintendo gamepad that was made for DDR: Mario Party Mix, but if you have one of those, they ... However, you will need a lot of room in the living room if you plan to hook up more than one pad. In fact, I don't know if you can logistically arrange 4 pads without extension cords because the hand motions can get wild and potentially dangerous. The rewards are nicely paced, and you can get new songs even for mediocre dancing. We haven't tried the work-out mode but suspect it will be useful for sluggish adults when that exercise bike routine seems too bland. While the only other DDR we've purchased was Gamecube's Mario Mix, the Wii: Hottest Party's hand motions add a nice depth to the game. It's the type of game that has appeal to the solo player and the group setting. Parents will like that their kids actually get up and move while playing video games. And the friendship mode helps foster teamwork and cooperation between siblings instead of the competition emphasized by a lot of games. (Okay, okay, the real appeal of friendship mode is that one of the kids can help a clumsy parent through a tough song...)

One For The Girls (and Boys)
I decided to buy this for my daughter because (quite honestly) there are not alot of games for girls! She is 13 and loves to sing and dance...so this seemed like a great game for her. She and her brother play it, but not as much as I thought they would! The game is very easy to set up and is fun to play. It does take up alot of space and the dance pads are somewhat flimsy but are overall tough. My kids have gotten agrevated a few times because the pad sometimes doesn't recognize a step. Also (for you parents out there) this game will keep your kids occupied, but be prepared for alot of noise....the stmping can get a bit noisey at times. Love this Game!
The SuperNova edition is well worth picking up. We decided to get the Dance Dance revolution game to try to work off some calories and tone up as we are inside much more than outside due to allergies and other issues. I first found out about DDR from my grandaughters. My youngest daughter told me she really wanted it after trying it with my granddaughters. I thought it was just for kids until I tried it. We now have 2 dance mats so my daughter and I can workout together. And every now and then, I can get my other half into the work out mode and he feels better when he does. What I love about this game is I can turn the jumps off, saving my knees. This is important for some of us middle aged and older folks wanting to get into shape. It is great as you can set the game up for ... The SuperNova edition is well worth picking up. It is great as you can set the game up for beginners and go at your own rate, making it less stressful yet if you work at it you get a work out. I highly suggest using the free option rather than course option on the work out mode. You can rest between songs if you need to on the free option. Catch your breath after some of the really fast songs. We have been at this set at 400 calories to burn per day, about 5 days a week and for about 2 weeks now. We have put on some muscles, toned up some and I have lost 6 pound and my daughter 8 pounds in just about 2 weeks! No, we did not alter our diet, just added an hour or two of dancing 5 days a week. I have noticed that my joints are not aching as bad and I seem to have more energy. I am over 50. Since discovering this DDR SuperNova edition, I have been telling everyone I know that needs to tone up or drop a few pounds that this is a fun way to do it. After 2 weeks, I am getting much better at hitting the steps and look forward to many great work outs to come. It is great that the game has a calorie counter and tells you how far you have jogged. The game will calculate calories for a person up to 600 pounds so as I said, this is not just for kids! The heavier you are, the faster you burn the calories! Also there is a personal trainer if you want to polish up the stepping and compitition mode if you want see how you are stacking up against others. So get this game and 2 dance mats and grab your favorite person and get stepping! We picked up an older game and could not turn off the jumps. As soon as we find out which other games have the jump turn off option, we will write another review. You won't go wrong with this game for the beginner and it has options to speed things up as you get better. I expect it would take years to go through to the top of all these songs. This game has a lot more options that we have not even used yet! Great Family fun! Great way to spend some quality time burning calories with any family member. Don't worry if you miss a lot of steps starting out as it will get easier, I promise! This game is so worth the time you put into it! Thank you for reading my review. DDR SuperNova not so Super
I bought SuperNova because my first DDR game was SN2 which I really like. Plus, as a newly addicted DDR junkie, I want to get all the PS2 versions I could. While SuperNova is not as bad as Extreme (Extreme2 on the other hand is amazing, as is Max2) ... it's just not great. First, this is a personal thing, I hate real videos behind the music. Very distracting for me. I want to watch a video I'll try mtv. Then there's the songs, some excellent, some ... what were they thinking! Too much "rock/pop", not enough jpop/techno/trance ... You know, DANCE music. The really (imho) good: Xepher, Mugen, No.13, DoLL all shine as great "I wish there were full length versions of these songs" The really (imho) bad: Do You Want To, Let's Dance, Since You Been Gone, Come Clean, Heaven Is A Place On ... The ok: Dance Dance (yes, Fall Out Boy), Mr. Dabada, Centerfold, Jerk It Out I'm a beginner and an older one at that (don't have fast feet!), so I'm doing songs on beginner or basic. The step charts to the really bad? are just as bad as the songs. The step charts for me on the really good songs - challenging, some even on beginner (Xepher). That's a good thing, by the way. If you're looking to flesh out your DDR collection, need a little change, like rockish pop this may be a good choice, provided you can get it at a good price. That's my short review of DDR SuperNova.
