K 44 for amateur radio
Have had several sets with my Yaesu Mark V. I operate CW solely. My radio has two separate receivers so the Stereo separation allows each ear to listen independently. These work very well. Sensitive in the mids and highs that I mostly use. Have a long non-coiled cable. Very comfortable. For the price, can't beat them. Would buy again.

Excellent performance value in full size headphones
The AKG K44 headphones are excellent for the price (about $50), and, in my opinion, outperform other models which cost even more - such as the Sony 7509 and Sennheiser 280. This $50 price represents a point below which all headphones are seriously flawed (exaggerated or harsh sounding), and above which you generally get what you pay for. The K44 are very efficient, so you get a lot of sound from a low power portable player, or computer sound card. Actually more efficient than the more expensive offering from AKG. The more expensive headphones count on you having a better output device, with more power to drive the phones. So, unless you have a high quality preamp or headphone power amp, the more expensive AKG's will not be as loud. The K44 also have fairly even sound. They lean towards ... They lean towards accuracy rather than romanticism. The K44 have very deep bass, without sounding tubby, as well as fairly extended treble without sounding harsh. They are comfortable to wear, and provide very good isolation from outside sounds. These are closed back headphones. This was important to me, for my use, but for everyday home listening, many prefer a semi - open back headphone which allows the wearer to hear room sounds more easily. On the down side: I hate that AKG, a brand from Austria, is having these headphones made in China. Also, the phones are very large, and do not fold. The cord is not easily replaceable. This is what you get to make these heaphones at this price, I suppose. This purchase is my second pair. I work as a sound professional, and got my first set of K44 as a free bonus with the purchase of an AKG C1000s - a "cheap and cheerful" condenser mic I now own five of. I didn't have very high expectations for the free headphones. But they were a great surprise! I take these headphones to every job, and they are not so expensive that I need to worry too much if they are lost, damaged, or stolen. I often use and enjoy many of AKG's more expensive products (414, c451, K240) and it is nice when that same quality carries through to the lower cost offerings. There are, without a doubt, better headphones available, but at a much higher price. At this price, you'd be hard pressed to find better.

Sounds great ,very comfortable fit has a nice amount of volume to them extremely light weight overall great headphones. Will definitely buy another one if something were to happen to these.

With a nice headphone mix the AKG K44 headphones reproduce the entire band in a clean and very except-able way that makes recording very easy. The phones come with a nice long cord of reasonably heavy construction, not the thin flimsy type on some cheaper phones. I would certainly recommend AKG for any home studio.In my home studio I need around 5-6 pairs of earphones. I use AKG because they are the best for the money. With a nice headphone mix the AKG K44 headphones reproduce the entire band in a clean and very except-able way that makes recording very easy. Pure simplicity and good quality
This is my 2nd pair of AKG K 44. I've had the other pair for years but wanted one for work too. For under $20, this is just an amazing find - I'd have paid $70. Small headsets hurt my ears after a few hours. These headsets are the most comfortable I've ever had for the head (spring loaded floating support) and are light on the ears as headsets go. Sound quality is fantastic. Full covering headsets don't need noise cancellation and I have to wonder if the extra processing wouldn't interfere with quality.This is my 2nd pair of AKG K 44.
