After the runaway success of their program ALL IN THE FAMILY, the producing team of Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin took a cue from the successful British sitcom STEPTOE AND SON in order to create this smash vehicle for African-American comedian Redd Foxx. SANFORD AND SON details the comedically endless disagreements between Fred Sanford (Foxx), aging junkyard owner, and his 34-year-old son Lamont (Demond Wilson). Airing from 1972 to 1977, the show was NBC's most popular program for four of its six seasons and earned four Emmy nominations. This collection compiles all 24 episodes from the show's second season.

    Getting Their Groove On

    In this second season of Sanford and Son, Fred and Lamont really start to get their groove on and get into the characters. Fred plays on his need for his son and Lamont needs Fred more than he admits--which sets the stage for comedy. They share the screen with more people--like Aunt Esther and Grady. The laughs are more often and steady. Norman Lear was a genius and really captured the times of Watts LA California.

    This is Red Foxx at his best & the show at it's peak!

    I grew up watching this show and always had a fondness for it. This DVD offers arguably the best season of the show. This is Red Foxx at his best. The image and sound quality of the show is very good considering that they were taped over 30 years ago. In conclusion, this is a good addition to a DVD library for anybody that enjoys sitting down and splitting some sides with laughter.
