    Excellent product!

If you only buy one electronic synthesizer, make the GR-55 your choice. With over 900 tones that you can mix and match in infinite combinations, you'll never be needing to find "just the right sound" again. I love the extra attention to guitar matching with pickups and amps. It gives you the possibility to play any guitar sound. I also like the fact that you can tune each individual string up or down four octaves. I have my GR-55 set up with a Fender GC-1, which is a factory Stratocaster modified with a GK-3 module built into the body, synth controls right by the volume knobs and a 13 pin connection. Once the guitar is set up properly, and the GR-55's setup is done, the GR-55 is extremely responsive. Whether you're a novice or an old pro, the GR-55 has it all.

  • Top critical review

    Don't get your hopes up.

After watching the demo from Namm on youtube you think it's going to be awesome. There's a reason he doesn't demo the piano, strings and only demos the amp modeling and guitar features. The tracking on the piano and strings aren't good. False triggers and ghost notes all over the place. It's still pretty awesome though. But I mainly bought it for recording piano and strings for my project. But the bass sounds are awesome I use it all the time and the guitars features are cool. It's great for creating atmospheres ect. I guess it just depends on the features you need. There is a learning curve so keep that in mind. I don't regret buying it though I still use it all the time.

  • GR55 Smoking

There are many, many different sounds that can be produced with the GR55. Most of the factory presets are much the same but it is very easy to customize your own. The very thing you have to do is setup your Godin or GK3 pickup to match your playing. It is factory set way to high and your get a lot of false notes but it is correct with a simple sensitivity setting which takes about 60 seconds. This takes the place of 100's of individual pedals. The sax, flute, strings sound real and is great for back ground tracks. The drums are a joke but the other available synths are perfect.

  • So far so good !

Built well, very solid. I am an old guy and not very experienced with this type pedal. But I seem to be understanding how to move around it. Just going to take some time to create my own sounds. The presets are all pretty good as they are, some maybe a little over the top for me. Best part for me is with the guitar out,I can just add it to my other pedals as I get use to switching sounds. If I can use it, anybody can. Pick up was an easy install on a strat type guitar. Looks like it would be ok on Les Paul type also. Maybe a little more adjustment than the strat.

  • Great product for those with an arranger's ear or those looking for new live sound tools.

Critiquing of sounds is very subjective but, overall, the sounds are excellent. There are a handful I will modify more to my taste. My only slightly negative initial observation is how the sounds are grouped together. For instance, I'd like to see all acoustic guitar sounds grouped closer together. But perhaps I'm simply too inexperienced with the product and too early on in the learning curve to see the big picture the programmers were working from. While the GK3 pickup works well with most of the sounds I'm interested in, I think when I convert to a Ghost piezo pickup the results will be stellar, making all of the sounds completely useable. I will mainly be using the product with a Ghost converted nylon string guitar
