    No Surprises

    there are no surprises in Iraq. Halberstam captures the detail of lies, intrigue, and individual self-promoting agendas during the Kennedy administration. key focus is the runup and early execution of the Vietnam war. i picked up the book to try and gain insight in to the situation we are in today. the parallels are dead on. read the book if you want to see how it ends. all bad.

    Key Players in Kennedy/Johnson Administration

    This is a seminal book by Halberstam, that put him among the elite writers of contemporary issues. He writes about those involved closely with both Presidents Kennedy and Johnson and how their thinking eventually led the US into greater and eventually tragic involvement in Viet Nam.
