    Great explanation of the basics

I've been a graphic designer and communications professional for two decades now, and I've used this book with all my new hires on my team. Even people who come with a design background can learn to apply the basics of good graphic design and typography with the tips in this book. #recommended

  • An Excellent Read!

This book is easy to read and has tons of great examples to illustrate the author's points. I'm using this book for a college class on an introduction to media design. Knowing it is a text book would normally make me think it would be boring and technical. It is quite the opposite. It is well laid out with wonderful examples and pictures to support those examples, which is a must for learning print design. It is designed for the beginner, so even younger learners wanting to learn print design would benefit from it, yet it is in depth enough that you will be designing handouts, brochures, posters, and other print media of high quality in no time.

  • As you expect from a design book, it is designed to convey its principals in an appealing manner.

I bought a copy to have because I enjoyed the copy I borrowed from the library so much. Each of the design principals is demonstrated with "before" and "after" examples accompanying the text. It's a fast read with a very appealing layout.
