This is my girlfriend’s favorite movie from her childhood
A while ago I got her the blue-ray copy of this movie and she was happy but also upset with the changes made in the new edition. They replaced a bunch of songs and removed some lines that Jiji and a few other characters said. It was subtle things, but it bothered her every time we watched it. She was so happy when I got her the original movie that she was used to!

A Must Own, Must See Movie, but only on DVD or Blu Ray
Kiki's Delivery Service is a magical (no pun intended) experience from the masters at Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki. They make some of the best animated movies ever and this one is no exception. The first Ghibli film to get a Disney dub back in 1998, this and My Neighbor Totoro helped the company gain initial exposure overseas with a great dub, great animation, and great writing/characters. One of my absolute favorite Ghibli films along with Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky. Unlike those more mature toned films, anyone young and old can watch this and get a kick out of it without being offended. However, the 2010 DVD reissue and Blu Ray release replaced the songs put in originally for the dub with the original Japanese music score and certain lines are cut out (same ... Wonderful Childrens movie, imaginative!!!
I had seen this movie in the past and others by the same director, like "my friend totoro" These stories are so rich in imagination, beautiful images, and creative stories that can only help enrich your life and your childs. They show strong independant children as characters who encounter unusual situations. In the case of Kiki, she is about 14 and a witch who needs to go out in the world and live independantly to become a full fledged witch. Not a bad one, a very sweet one. The movie celebrates those who are different instead of alienating them. I love this movie enough to own it as an adult, and I never tire of watching it over and over. This is a treasure in a small package, and I highly recommend it to ANYONE! I think that traditional kids animated movies are ususally so formulated, ... Refreshing! Delightful!
This movie is very much like a coming-of-age story. It's about a 12-year-old girl learning to become a witch just like her mother. She has to spend a year away from home in a different city. She chose a big city with the beautiful seascape. Witches weren't really popular in the city by the sea. She came across many problems like where to sleep, what to eat, how to make money, lost power of flight, and save a life. It is truly a sweet and delightful story perfect for both the young and old. The opening (Soaring) and ending (I'm Gonna Fly) songs are really great. I believe it's both sung by Sydney Forest. Beautiful songs. Very encouraging and lovely. Kiki's Delivery Service is wonderful!!!! It has it all,great animation,imaginative story,etc.I can't imagine anyone not falling in love with little Kiki experiencing life and being on her own at the age of thirteen.Sure it's a fantasy,but it's a great one.This is a great movie for the whole family.The more I see it the more I love it.It's sure to put a smile on your face!!!!!
