Duran Duran was the most commercially successful of the New Romantic bands and a leading band in the MTV-driven Second British Invasion of the United States. Duran Duran has sold more than 85 million records. The appeal of Paul Edmonda??s pictures is not just that most of them are hitherto Unseen, but that they capture Duran Duran as part of the scene from which they emerged; not just Unseen, but Unvarnished and Uncensored. Duran Duran, in all its incarnations up to and including the classic fivesome, were part of the Punk New Wave Scene but the book's flavour is drawn from a much wider cast of characters, many of whom are pictured in this book. What made Paul Edmond the perfect photographer to record this brief, intense period before and during take-off was his ability to capture the moment. Catching a girl sitting on her own in the corner of a nightclub, lost in thought or space; hours of preparation and glamour caught completely unawares.
