International superstar Tiger Woods tees off for his third golf outing on PlayStation 3 with several new features. While the core play mechanics are identical to last year's game, which continued the analog-based swing meter first introduced in 1998, more options are now available to customize the experience. The biggest change is the inclusion of a personal golf coach to help improve your long and short game. Tiger's coach Hank Haney will serve as your mentor, assessing your swing and offering tips on equipment to maximize your abilities. <br><br>Clubs can now be tuned to take advantage of a course's width, doglegs, and length. You can freely adjust power (at the expense of accuracy), accuracy (at the expense of power), or "workability" to improve draw and fade. Five new courses include Gary Player Country Club, Sheshan Golf & Country Club, Wolf Creek Golf Club, Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge, and Wentworth Golf Club. A dynamic attribute system automatically adjusts skill ratings based on how well you play on each course. If ratings fall too far below acceptable levels, call on Hank Haney to provide specific drills so you remain competitive.

Challenging game play
I have had all the pc Tiger Woods games and didn't want to go to the ps3 format because I didn't know if I could play as well without the mouse. I had no problem with either swing on the controller and better yet, I can relax with my feet up while I am playing. I plan on getting all the ps3 Tiger Woods PGA Tours and having a lot of fun with it!

Tiger Woods '09 PS3 - Okay, fun, but not great
Just like all the sports titles by EA, when you come out with a new game every year, it's hard to keep coming up with new features to make the game different. I always wait to buy the EA games 1 year after they're released cuz why pay $60 for '10 when you can get '09 for $15-$20 used? Just my opinion. This is my first PS3 version, I've played the PS2 version in years past so this is a nice upgrade strictly based on the graphics. I'm unable to connect this game w/the internet since I don't have internet in my home (I know, hard to believe), but I think it would be a better experience if I was able to. The game is a lot of fun. Creating your own golfer is amazing in terms of how detailed the attributes are. I found myself improvong my skills to the point where I'm at 8-9 or better in ... I'll probably buy '10 sometime in the spring and I hope it has new features but I won't keep my hopes up.

Not what youd expect for '09 but a good title nonthless
Tiger Woods '09 brings a much improved feeling to the golfing experience as the swinging has improved. Also, you are told exactly how you swing so that you may compensate for your natural swing (I tend to hook the ball myself). The graphics are great as usual (although the background scenery is not stellar). The level designs are impressive and challenging and the game's music score is excellent and makes the game experience fun. Online play is smooth and the simultaneous game play is a great development in the series as every player can swing without waiting for their opponents. Cons: You cannot skip your CPU opponents turns during tournaments which makes them take forever. There should be more mini games as some were removed from last years title. Tiger Woods 09 - PS3 now as good as XBOX version
I own both a PS3 and an XBOX 360 so was trying to decide which version of this game to get. I downloaded both demos and compared them side by side on graphics and gameplay and found that the PS3 version was limited to 720p while the XBOX 360 version was running at 1080i - I suspected that it was just because the PS3 demo was set to play at 720p only. I ended up buying the PS3 version because the colors seemed to be brighter and after reading a review elsewhere that quoted the EA Sports design team saying they had made great efforts to bring the PS3 version inline with the XBOX 360 version in terms of graphics. When the game arrived it ran at 720p only and there was no support for the PSN Trophy system. While there is nothing wrong with the gameplay - it is identical to the XBOX 360, I ... Likes: Graphics!!!!! Super good HD quality. Very detailed. Easy to use controlls. Customizing player(with real picture). Online "Gamersnet" challenges. Realtime ESPN ticker and announcers while in menu. Number of courses(have to win extra courses). Dislikes: Inability to change controller designation for more than one player. Overall a great game!!!
