About this product

Product Information

Invoking the name of Rare's 1997 first-person shooter for N64 -- easily its most highly acclaimed James Bond game predecessor -- 2004's GoldenEye: Rogue Agent is an original super spy adventure experienced from a different point of view. Developed by Electronic Art's Los Angeles studios, the game has players taking the role of an MI6 agent working toward elite "00" license-to-kill status, who is dismissed for "reckless brutality." Seizing the opportunity to bring such a highly skilled and well-trained operative into his own organization, infamous Bond supervillian Auric Goldfinger welcomes the player's disenfranchised agent into his ranks.

Like its N64 forebear, the 128-bit version of GoldenEye is a first-person shooter with lots of opportunity for multiplayer action. Standard deathmatches and domination games are supported, as well as a "Tug of War" game that has teams competing to move a bomb across the map by flipping a series of switches. Four-player split-screen play is offered, and properly equipped PlayStation 2 and Xbox gamers can go online to find competitive multiplayer games for up to eight. Also like the original, Rogue Agent features a full single-player campaign as well.

Though playing as the "bad guy" in GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, gamers may find that their opponents are often other evil minions from rival underworld operations. As the game begins, Goldfinger is in a struggle with the nefarious Dr. No for control of the world's most powerful criminal organization. The game is officially licensed by MGM (which holds the rights to the franchise), so players can expect to meet other famous (and infamous) characters from the James Bond universe, such as Oddjob, Pussy Galore, Scaramanga, and Xenia Onatopp, as they make their way through this adventure.

    007 meets Timesplitters

If you're a fan of the other PS2 James Bond games or even shooting games such as Timesplitters, you'll have fun. The gameplay is good but different from other 007 games. I finally decided to give it a shot since it was so cheap and I wasn't disappointed.

  • A hidden gem?

This is one of those games that the computer game reviewers gave a bad rap. You know how you watch Ebert and Roper and they both give it two thumbs down and somehow you see the movie and it wasn't that bad? Its kind of like that with this game. If you are looking for a really challenging shooter with the best A.I...well they are correct you won't find it here. However the fun and blast em and cool weapons factors all there. They also made a big deal about how they were trying to combine all these movies into one and it was somehow cheating the Bond films. I really didn't care one way or the other as far as the Bond aspects except to say that some of the voices and characters sound and look pretty cool. If you are not a super first person shooter gamer and just kind of easing back ...

  • Great game

May not be the best Bond game, but snagging it at a decent price is definitely worth the investment, story may be a bit weak but gameplay is pretty good for a game that was made more than 16 years ago.

  • Just another bond game

Goldeneye: Rogue Agent is just another bond game. None of the bond games have lived up to the first Goldeneye, and neither does this one. In this game you get to be a rogue agent and turn to the evil side. The duel weapon mode is pretty cool but the levels are too long. And it seems like on many levels all you are doing is shooting everyone without much of any other challenge. But the computer AI is actually pretty good on this game. The enemies hide and shoot and aren't too easy to hit. Bottom line: This is just another average first-person shooter game. Pros: You get to be the bad guy, Duel weapon mode, Lots of multi-player levels (if you have 4 people playing). Cons: Levels are too long, Can't add computer bots in multi-player.

  • Great 🎮game

Awesome gameplay and can't believe how great the game is and it's in excellent 💯condition.
