  • Jim Capaldi, my friend

I bought this DVD because I wish I could have been there to see the great tribute to a man who was my friend. I first met Jim Capaldi in 1967 when I came to London, England, to live with my new step father record producer Jimmy Miller. We shared a floor on two adjoining flats near Earls Court Road. The elevator the size of a small closet popped open in the middle where both are doors were open to each other most of the time. Music and smoke filled the air. Jim and I spent a lot of time together along with Rocky Dijon the conga player and Dave Mason. But Jim was such a good friend to me and I will never forget how much that friendship meant to me. This DVD of the tribute concert shows how much he was a friend to so many people. Jim was a great person, a great musician, and a good friend, ...

  • a tribute to the life and music of jim capaldi.

great musicians from both sides of the pond showed up to pay tribute to the late jim capaldi of traffic. i really enjoy this dvd very much. i would say the highlight of this show for me was joe walsh and steve winwood. also john lord and gary moore are great also. my favorite tracks off this dvd would have to be john barleycorn must die and 40,000 headmen (song by j. walsh) and dear mr fantasy and light up or leave me alone (s. winwood) also the track love will keep us alive is a fantastic ending to the show and even brought a tear to my eye. i would recomend this dvd.

  • One great song, another mediocre, the rest is terrible

Read the song tracks - if you don't recognize more than a couple of songs, this is not a good concert DVD for you. So many great artists singing the most obscure songs. Felt like watching a love-in concert where the artist get to sing what they want and not what the audience wants to hear. Steve Winwood is awesome on "Dear Mr. Fantasy," but the rest of the DVD is pretty self indulgent. The artists came to play tribute to a dead friend, and that is what it feels like - a funeral. Don't waste your time unless you recognize the song titles.
