Product Information

Edward Thatcher's 1919 book provides instructions on how to construct toy trucks, boats, trains, and windmills, as well as trays, candlesticks, and biscuit cutters, all out of used tin cans. Thatcher, an instructor of Decorative Metal Working at Columbia University's Teachers College in New York City, made clever and durable creations using simple tools and an abundant material. His design methods were trial-tested by both 10-12 year olds and wounded World War I soldiers. The book includes over 100 helpful diagrams and black-and-white photographs.

    This book is available for free from Google Books. Any revenues from sales will not benefit the original author and the intellectual content is in the public domain. Google Books works in cooperation with public libraries to bring rare and out of print volumes to the attention of today's generation. If you get the book from Google, you will not only be saving money but also assisting your local library. The book is about 200 4x8 pages long if you must have a hard copy calculate the cost of printing that many pages from a file.

    A little disappointing.

    I would not recommend this particular book. The diagrams are hard to read and the information covered is very dated.
