About this product

Product Information

All the branches of the animal kingdom - birds, fish, crustaceans, reptiles, mammals, insects, and even slime moulds undertake great journeys across water land or air. This is a glorious celebration of the mysteries and marvels of migration. Migration is one of the great mysteries of the natural world. With no compass or GPS devices, birds fly thousands of miles from Europe to their African feeding grounds, salmon cross oceans so that they may return to the rivers in which they were born and monarch butterflies spend their entire adult lives traveling from the grasslands of the Midwest to the forests of Mexico. This book takes a close look at how and why different animals migrate. The science of migration is broken down into clearly understood texts, and then brought to life in case studies of individual species. Simple text packed with fascinating facts and details are accompanied by eye-catching illustrations that illuminate the fragility and wonders of our extraordinary planet and the species that inhabit it.

Reviews
"It's a daunting subject that Brown tackles with aplomb, beginning with a friendly introduction that hints at the scale of migration and asks two crucial questions: 'So why do it?' and 'How does it work?' The layouts are dynamic, with creative, action-packed scenes, and the information is plentiful. Brown makes clear that everything humans do impacts creatures all over the globe and also considers what we still don't know about migration. Robust insights into the often mind-bogglingly arduous journeys of animals all over the world." - Kirkus Reviews "Children interested in animals, and in particular knowing how and why they take such onerous journeys, will really enjoy this book. With a page on how migration is being impacted in a changing world, it is vital that young people understand how, and why, they can make a positive difference in supporting animals around the world with the journeys that they need to take. The illustrations by Ed Brown are terrific as is his writing! They are full of colour, include intricate details and show how flights can be possible with things like thermal currents". - Armadillo Children's Magazine, "So many animals take journeys throughout their lifetimes for a variety of reasons. This book explores the navigations and migrations of animals by sea, land and air and explains how so many animals are capable of taking such long journeys, and why they choose to do so. Divided into sections which each explore a different type of migration, those made on land, those in the air and those by sea, along with a final section which explores how animals navigate change the book is highly accessible. The pages are full of colourful illustrations and small paragraphs of text which explain a different aspect of the migration being explored. Children interested in animals, and in particular knowing how and why they take such onerous journeys, will really enjoy this book. With a page on how migration is being impacted in a changing world, it is vital that young people understand how, and why, they can make a positive difference in supporting animals around the world with the journeys that they need to take. Whether an area of land is a resting point for a bird, or home to a mammal, it is so important that humans start to make changes to the way that we live to prevent the harm that is happening to other species. Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!
