About this product

Product Information

In this classic work, Leo Strauss examines the problem of natural right and argues that there is a firm foundation in reality for the distinction between right and wrong in ethics and politics. On the centenary of Strauss's birth, and the fiftieth anniversary of the Walgreen Lectures which spawned the work, Natural Right and History remains as controversial and essential as ever. "Strauss . . . makes a significant contribution towards an understanding of the intellectual crisis in which we find ourselves . . . [and] brings to his task an admirable scholarship and a brilliant, incisive mind."--John H. Hallowell, American Political Science Review Leo Strauss (1899-1973) was the Robert Maynard Hutchins Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus in Political Science at the University of Chicago.

The Shepherd's Song- Psalm 23 for Childrenby Jan Godfrey and Honor AyresGoes alongside The Secret of Happiness. How nice that someone has the initiative to take some text from the bible and re work it for children. This book is a nicely re-written Psalm 23 made accessible for little ones. It really does make a change from nativities and Daniel in his den! The book is a hard back and is carefully and thoughtfully illustrated in warm colours. It would make a nice gift.Review by Hilary Morgan (20/07/10) HardbackPrice: £6.99 Publisher: Barnabas imprint of BRF Published: 19 March 2010 ISBN: 978-1-841-01802-7

Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

One of the most important books written in the 20th century. A real eye opener. Straus philosophically dismantles the historicists understanding of ethics and morality by showing showing it as a verbal irony and an unworkable manipulation of truth. He also attaches this sophistry, which is pervading the US, as the root cause of the rise of NAZI germany.
