Their food comes not from the concentration camp, but from their pasts, from the days when they had cooked in freedom, when they had dinners to plan and holidays to celebrate., The precious pages of Mina Pachter's cookbook are full of snapshots of life before and during World War II, inside and outside the concentration camps., Not a cookbook, though it has seventy recipes, but a Holocaust document, compiled as an act of defiance in a concentration camp, A monument to the women of Terezín who saw beyond indescribable horror and sent the food of their hearts to nourish ours., The work of women whose memories were distorted by starvation, the book born in Terezín is both intimate and disturbing--a poignant reminder of a lost world and a spirit that refused to die., Those brave women contributed something of tremendous value, not simply an historical document but a lesson in humanity., The work of women whose memories were distorted by starvation, the book born in Terezn is both intimate and disturbinge"a poignant reminder of a lost world and a spirit that refused to die., The work of women whose memories were distorted by starvation, the book born in Terezín is both intimate and disturbing-a poignant reminder of a lost world and a spirit that refused to die., The work of women whose memories were distorted by starvation, the book born in Terez n is both intimate and disturbing--a poignant reminder of a lost world and a spirit that refused to die., A monument to the women of Terez n who saw beyond indescribable horror and sent the food of their hearts to nourish ours., A monument to the women of Terezn who saw beyond indescribable horror and sent the food of their hearts to nourish ours., Cooking is this book's subject matter, but survival is its theme; it is both moving and paradoxical that this material was collected by starving internees.

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • Sad little book

my friend and I went to Prague, Check Republic. We were looking for a bus to Budapest. Not knowing the language we ended up on a bus to Terezine, the first Concentration Camp of WW2. It is a somewhat interesting book giving the recipes that the women learned to make food taste better, even though they lacked the normal ways we all cook. It's is very sad but gives a good picture about what that war was about.

  • Interesting insight in the horrors of the Holocaust

Well recommended book about the food and diet of the people interned at Terezinstadt Concentration Camp during World War Two. Interestingly enough the work comes with some period recipes used during the Jewish internment in the camp. Well recommended.
