About this product

Product Information

Body Awareness as Healing Therapy: The Case of Nora is Moshe Feldenkrais' classic study of his work with Nora, a woman who has suffered a severe stroke and lost her neuromuscular coordination, including the ability to read and write. Feldenkrais uses rational and intuitive approaches to help his student relearn basic motor skills. One can observe here the groundwork of Feldenkrais' extraordinary insights which became known as the Feldenkrais Method. We follow his detailed descriptions of the trial and error process which led him to see the ingredients that were needed to help Nora reshape her attention, perception, imagination and cognition.

"...a rare gem. This book has inspired my students and me for over a decade with its intimate revelations detailing how Feldenkrais went about solving the problems of his case. It is of interest to medical practitioners who work directly with the body, as well as educators and psychotherapists." -Don Hanlon Johnson, author ofBody, Spirit and Democracy "...an important literary and scientific achievement that reveals Feldenkrais' bold and original insights about learning and the brain. Nora's story is an inspiring account of the nervous system's ability to heal from trauma and the remarkable human capacity to learn." -Mark Reese, so-author ofRelaxercise, "...a rare gem. Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • Body Awareness As Healing Therapy: The Case of Nora

This is a story about an innovative way to view injury, disease and body dysfunction and the success one can achieve in recovery by considering nontraditional or unfamiliar options. It is a technical story so having a dictionary close by is a good idea. I bought it because it supports my idea of intentionally repatterning muscle movement to restore and strengthen mental and emotional states as we age. This activity, known as neurobics, is a tool I use in personal coaching and consulting to assist in restoring legibility and quality to an individual's handwriting.

  • Hard to find at a reasonable price

Haven't had a chance to read it, but was looking for this book for it's content as I am getting involved with Feldenkrais as a practice. The price and condition were great!

  • Body Awareness As Healing Therapy

What a pleasant surprise it was to read this case history of Nora's recovery from a stroke. This book was required reading for the Feldenkrais class in Baltimore, MD. I was expecting some dry reading of a technical nature. Imagine my delight to be allowed into the mind of Dr. Feldenkrais and discover the reasons behind the work he does with Nora. This is a must for anyone studying the Feldenkrais Method, any other form of therapy for that matter. It is a quick read full of insight into the why's of recovery from illness or accident. You will read it again just because you are so impressed with the material.

  • Indebt case description.

Very indebt case description. If you are interested in body mechanics, this is a down to earth , step by step, explanation of the case of Nora.
