    Great general knowledge - and for Chem classes!!

    I teach HS chemistry, and use this book in my classes to expand students' perspectives about the related organic molecules and their impact on history and society. A wonderful, rich, general read for any audience and a pertinent and enriching aspect to my chem classes for the past 12 years.

    A must read for historians and chemists alike.

    This book clearly and concisely describes the influence Chemistry had on many aspect of history. It give great details about each topic and leaves the reader want to know about the many other influential molecules. Although a good starting point for those interested in Chemistry, more educated students will not gain any additional knowledge on the subject. It is more a history book than a Chemistry book. Nonetheless, a must read for those wanting to increase their understanding of how our world came to be what it is today.
