I decided to not reopen the items and used pictures form auction house. Original box, with paperwork and and box is in excellent/near mint condition. I do not have a Märklin track set-up (I am a Fleischmann train nut) so it is not seller-tested. However, due to condition as presented it is more than 95% likely that it works out of the box. However, I suggest you lubricate it first as I suspect there may be two decades of non-use. I have never come across a German train in original box that does not work! That is out a sample of over 100. Item was purchased from an estate sale and was part of the largest non-vintage Märklin collection I have ever seen. It is digital but also runs on analog systems. Highly collectible and hard to find.”
