  • Capturing the Soul of Color

This is a great book for kids and adults alike. The artist Ul de Rico uses bright vivid colors with the most dynamic detail. This book is one that takes the soul of color itself and expresses it within a world of fantasy. The storyline itself is amusing and gives the reader something to tie together with it's visual dance of the rainbow. This story was first read to me when I was 7 years old in our Elementary school library. I had not thought of it until I had a daughter of my own. I had come across it when in a bookstore one day and was delighted that the magic of artwork was still appealing to me as an adult. I bought it that day and since I have read it countless times to my little one who loves to find new shapes & swirls of color that capture her imagination. I find her wanting to ...

  • Magical

This is one of the all time great books. The story and illustrations are magical. My son grew up with this and now my granddaughter will have the pleasure.

  • Wonderful book

As great as I remember it being as a child. Beautifully illustrated. Love this story, and the artwork is fantastic. The larger version is even better, for viewing the paintings. Recommend this book, absolutely.

  • Beautiful, but not for the faint of heart!

This book is just stunning from an artistic perspective. The colors are vibrant, with each page acting as an invitation to dive right into the world of the Rainbow Goblins. This, combined with folktale styled story-telling, makes this book a real feast for the imagination. While this is great for older children and adults, it may be a bit much for young children. Though vibrant and beautiful, the illustrations may be seen by some as being a bit "dark" and possibly frightening. Add to that the fate of the Goblins themselves and those of you who are the parents of young children could be in for a long night. (This mom of two little ones sure was!)
