Synopsis
Widely know for his portrayal of Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films, Alan Rickman is also one of Britain's greatest stage actors, embracing everything from Shakespeare, Chekov and Noel Coward, to directing Ruby Wax on stage. He has also appeared on television in shows as varied as Rasputin, The Barchester Chronicles and Victoria Wood with all the Trimmings, though global fame came with his move to the big screen. His first part was as terrorist Hans Gruber in Die Hard and has gone on to star in such diverse movies as Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Sense and Sensibility, Dogma and Galaxy Quest. Yet behind the glamour lies the west London working-class socialist with strong political principles. Hollywood is the dream factory, yet Rickman's heart is often within the theatre of London. His reputation suggests a man difficult to work with, so is he similar to the characters he plays? Or is that the mark of this great actor - that he is nothing like them?, Alan Rickman is the most powerful and sexiest character actor to emerge from Britain in the last decade. Having established himself as a major classical stage actor Rickman transferred to the Hollywood screen with a glint in his eye and a sly smile. From Les Liaisons Dangereuses and Robin Hood to Truly, Madly, Deeply, Sense and Sensibility and Die Hard he has proved himself the most interesting and versatile British actor of his generation., In this revised and updated biography, Maureen Paton encompasses the private, professional and political life of this most enigmatic, charismatic and intensely private of actors.

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • Not worth while

This is a very poorly written biography that Alan Rickman, himself, did not like. There are lists upon lists of random names. Some parts of the text are repeated, as if she didn't have an editor. The author then concludes the book by comparing Mr. Rickman to another actor and to give him career advice. Not asked for, nor needed. I have gotten more out of the fan sites that chronicle his work and the work itself as an insight into this talented mind. He deserved a better biography, and I can see why he didn't want one at all.

  • Great Autobiography.

I was very glad to find an autobiography on Alan Rickman, who played Professor Snape in the Harry Potter Series, as I am sure very few Harry Potter fans knew about this great English actor and his many theater/movie roles before getting the role of Professor Snape. This book is very interesting and worth reading.

  • Alan Rickman

I'm beginning to wonder if J.K. Rowling didn't model Rita Skeeter after Maureen Paton! I know Alan HATES this book, but I will gather anything good or bad that is Alan related, just collector-wise. But NOW I see why he hates it. Nasty.
