Takes up a lot of room and traps smaller fish against intake
I bought this hoping to use it as an additional filter for a 60 gallon tank but it is really large, taking up more space than a similarly powerful external filter just in cubic inches (I'm not talking about the part of an external filter that is inside the tank; I'm talking about just the size of the filter itself). I didn't have the space behind the tank to add an additional external filter, thought this might work, but this filter took up too much space, plus it caught smaller fish (2-3" in length) against the intake, killing one before I could unplug and remove it; another fish who is very inquisitive, ended up inside, swimming into the filter through the exit flow. It also didn't seem to do a very good job filtering the water in the day I had it up and running. It might work for a tank ...
