Personal and historic for the world Lockdown
Unbelievably smooth and has the expected Clapton ability to move one's heart . This DVD had a collection of mostly well known Clapton and band wooden music. The beautiful setting and recording at Cowdray House in West Sussex England enhanced the mellow mood and feeling of Clapton's personal emotion and full connection with Nathan East, Christ Stainton, and Steve Gadd. Such a breath of fresh air from a master musician to remind the world that being "locked down" could not destroy or take away the power of music and song. An Intimate Concert By Master Musicians
At 77, "Slowhand" may be slowing down a bit, but he's such a master of his instrument, that he easily makes up for a lack of pyrotechnics with a constant barrage of tasty, elegant acoustic renderings of some of his most recognizable works. This is not another "Unplugged" album, although some might toss it off as such. No, this is Clapton truly engaged with some of his long-time musical partners (Nathan East, Chris Stainton, Steve Gadd) putting on an intimate show for the onlooker we never see, Clapton's wife -- the Lady In The Balcony. Clapton's fortunes of late have been hampered by the COVID lockdowns (hence the subtitle: The Lockdown Sessions), as well as his own health and age-related issues. Thus, he pours his heart into the music they play, and he laughs with genuine pleasure ...
