About this product

Product Information

Wesleyan University Press is pleased to present a special miniature edition of this best-selling volume of poetry by Robert Bly. Originally published in 1962, Silence in the Snowy Fields was Bly's first book, and one of the first volumes of poetry published by Wesleyan. Silence in the Snowy Fields disarmed readers and critics with its clear-sighted intelligence and apparent simplicity. Unlike much of the academically based American poetry of its time, this poetry aimed at a kind of Eastern balance in which human beings participate in but do not dominate nature. Many still find this one of Bly's most healing books. The entire book is reproduced in this irresistable small format.

Reviews
"Mr. Bly's poems name delicate, humble things, and at the same time describe man assuming his existence, beginning over again the test of illusions. At the end of each poem there is silence, without complaint." -Wallace Fowlie, New York Times Book Review, "There's no more practical beautiful book I own than the two minibook poetry collections I have: The Branch Will Not Break by James Wright and Silence in the Snowy Fields by Robert Bly. ... Because the tiny Wright book has probably traveled (literally) with me more than any other book, it's one of the most beat-up books I own, and also one of my favorites."--Gabe Habash, PWxyz / Publishers Weekly blog, "There's no more practical beautiful book I own than the two minibook poetry collections I have: The Branch Will Not Break by James Wright and Silence in the Snowy Fields by Robert Bly. ... Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!
