About this product

Product Information

From 1967 to 1970, Louisiana State University saw the rise of a legend: "Pistol Pete" Maravich, one of the greatest basketball players in LSU history and arguably the greatest to ever play college basketball. Known for his dazzling ball handling, creative passing, and extraordinary shooting, he averaged 44.2 points per game at LSUwithout the benefit of a three-point lineand remains the NCAA's all-time leading scorer. Danny Brown, a journalism student at LSU during most of Pete's college years, took hundreds of photographs at LSU basketball games as part of his course work. SHOOTING THE PISTOL presents more than eighty photographsmost never before publishedof Pete in action, along with game statistics and personal recollections, to form the single most complete portrait ever made of Maravich during his LSU years.

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • Pistol Pete at his Best

You will not find as good a collection of stop-action shots of LSU's Pete Maravich as "Shooting the Pistol," including Sports Illustrated. Danny Brown's intimate connection to Maravich went beyond that of the run-of-the-mill newspaper staff, a skill that shows itself again and again in this concise documentation of the greatest collegiate player ever. One shot in particular, Pete's behind the back switch hands move for a lay-up is there to amaze, frozen in college immortality for all of us to admire. His floppy socks jump shot is there against Duke and other opponents, as well as some timed perfect moments of passing the ball beyond comprehension. This book makes the case for Pete as the greatest ball handler/shooter in collegiate history, leaving for others to explain his NBA ...
