About this product

Product Information

After a group of hapless National Guard troops fails a training exercise, their commanding officer (Flex Alexander, SNAKES ON A PLANE) orders them to deliver supplies to some scientists in Yuma Flats, New Mexico. The mutants from the first film (the unfortunate victims who live on nuclear testing ground) have returned to terrorize a group of Department of Defense researchers. The unlucky soldiers happen upon the remains of their camp (and its denizens), and the horrors begin. The inbred family of cannibals stalks the soldiers and picks them off, one by one, in gruesome fashion.Alejandre Aja (HIGH TENSION) directed the 2006 remake, but this sequel replaces Aja with Martin Weisz, whose first feature, ROHTENBERG, was banned in his native Germany. Written by genre master Wes Craven and his son Jonathan, THE HILLS HAVE EYES II is a sequel to the remake of Craven's original 1977 film. It's no coincidence that Craven changed this sequel's victims from a band of motorcyclists to a group of unlucky soldiers, giving the film political undertones. For a brief moment, this film addresses the idea that war may be the worst kind of horror, even when it's judged against mutant cannibals.

  • Pay per view - yes. Movie house NO!

I would have been disappointed if I blew $11.00 on a ticket, and $10.00 more on soda and pop corn. This is good for a $3.99 pay per view or eBay buy with $1.00 of pop corn and a $2.00 liter of soda. Basically the sequel does not live up to the first. The cast of actors are one flash in the pan and a bunch of no names. It's a tweak from Aliens part 2 and Wrong Turn (which BTW, goes out on DVD October 9th !) The female solders are a nice add and of course they are very attractive but the scenes in the mines are WAY too DARK and a disappointing let down cause you really cant see anything (especially when one of the mutants is supposedly having his way with one of the solders) You simply can't see anything. I'm not saying be super graphic but come on, don't 'G' rate it either or 'black' it ...

  • They Haven't Seen Nothin' Yet !!!!

"The Hills Have Eyes 2" (UNRATED) is the sequel to the remake that's surprisingly intelligent and original. It also lacks nothing in savagery; because Craven (who co-wrote and co-produced "Hills 2") and director Martin Weisz have new and different intentions. Taking a page from the "Aliens" playbook, the sequel is as much a military action film as a horror movie. "The Hills Have Eyes 2" picks up two years after its predecessor left off, focusing on the same patch of New Mexico desert where the family of the first film found themselves under siege by a gang of psychotic mutants. The filmmakers remind us that those mutants were mining families displaced and deformed by nuclear testing; now, the American military is setting up shop in the desert when the mutants emerge from their caves for ...

  • Better than most sequels

I enjoyed part one of this remake, and I liked this one equally if not better. I never saw the original versions of either, so I can't compare these to those. But this 2nd part was a cut above most sequels. The characters are sympathetic, and may of them likeable. The situations are tense and frightening. One of the things I liked best, is that it was not just the same scenes with different characters. They kept the basic idea of the premise intact, but took it in a fresh direction without the need for rehash. Worth viewing if you like the franchise, the first remake, or scary movies in general!

  • Gory unsurprising movie

It is really difficult to make good movies this days. Most audiences want to be amazed when going into the movies. This will not happen with The Hills Have Eyes 2. You will get exactly what you see on the cover of the DVD. Gory scenes that lack any imagination. The end is just like the beginning of the movie, unimaginative and boring. Someone told me this movie was better than the first one, and they were correct. The first one is even worse. Obviously, this one leaves some room for another sequel. If you really want to see some gore and try to relax without thinking at all during a movie, THIS IS IT! This is the movie you need for this weekend. Definitely avoid buying it. It not even worth its shelf space. This is one of those movies where one dumb mistake leaves one body and then another ...

  • Less Taboo Then the First but Still Entertaining

This latest contribution to the Hills Have Eyes series takes place you guessed it in the same desert as the first but this time the sheep are members of our national gaurd istead of a nearly helpless family. The movie adds an element of clostraphobia that the first didn't have but no real surprises possibly the same lost element from Aliens in the contrast with Alien. The acting was slightly cheesy and unprofessional but this element added a touch of humor to the movie that I have loved in many movies from the past with the same element. All in all this is a good flick for a cheap laugh or two.
