About this product

Product Information

Yakuza 3 is a violent, urban action-adventure of organized crime and gang warfare, bringing Sega's PS2 series to high-def on PlayStation 3 for the first time. From a third-person perspective, the game offers open-world exploration and a player-directed mission structure, as in a Japanese version of the latter-day Grand Theft Auto games. The player's character moves and fights through detailed re-creations of real-world cities. Hand-to-hand combat is central to the play of the game, and characters gain skills and new weapons by facing and defeating opponents. The hero can also engage in many day-to-day activities as he travels through the city, such as shopping for clothes and goods, playing billiards, and even singing karaoke, through specialized mini-games. The third Yakuza game begins in modern-day Okinawa, where the series' protagonist Kazuma Kiryu and his adopted daughter, Haruka, have settled down to run an orphanage, away from the bloodshed and hate they knew in the big city underworld. In his earlier adventures, however, Kazuma became a man of great influence in Tokyo's criminal underground, making many powerful allies and enemies, and so before long, the outlaw hero is pulled back into the violent life he sought to leave behind.

    Yakuza 3

Yakuza 3 is exactly what the title says. The third Yakuza game but it's also the first to be on the PS3 and man are the graphics better. If you love Yakuza you cannot miss this game.

  • NOTHING like GTA or anything else! Love it

I love the minigames the gameplay and substories because they just can't be boring and simple. I played the find the lion dog substory and automatically wanted to look for a set of lion dog statues myself because they look so beautiful and the graphics really lured me in to want them. The makers of the game should sell them and provide a link to buy them lol. I have never been to Japan or any where outside of the US but now I would like to from viewing the beautiful graphics in this game that is said to truly capture the beauty of the areas shown in Yakuza 3. I love fighting games and this is one of the #1 games you should own if you are into fighting games/rpg and open world play. I love that you can run into substories but didn't like the fact that you couldn't keep up with the area you ...

  • Ryu ga Gotoku 3 is "Like a Dragon", not like GTA

Just to clear this up right off the bat, Yakuza 3 is a hybrid rpg/brawler/open world game. It is NOT, as many people have said, a Japanese version of Grand Theft Auto. That aside, it is a great game if you know what to expect. Even with a bit of content cut in the U.S. version, it's still an enormous world with so much to do it's mind blowing. I like these kinds of games as well as Japanese cinema a lot so I recommend it. Just make sure you do too before you purchase. • Not for everyone, definitely for the patient

I personally find this game addictive and interesting, but I almost didn't hang with it long enough to get that feeling. The game starts off.........slow. And there are long periods of watching characters speaking and hitting the x button to get to the next part (think Final Fantasy vii). But I do enjoy the story, particularly the interactions with the kids at the orphanage, and the Japanese weirdness (well at least to an ugly American like myself) is fun as well. I've read mixed reviews on the fighting, I find it enjoyable and I like the variety of finishers and weapons. If you're looking for a plot heavy game that has fun action and a beautiful scenery, put away Heavy Rain and play something that is an actual video game. If you like more action COD type games, this is definitely ...

  • Not just a Japanese version of GTA

I rarely have time for game and most game I can't even finished it, like GTA. Don't get me wrong, GTA is alot of fun but there are just so much you can do. It's the same case for Yakuza 3 as well but the fight scenes kept it very interesting. I like the old school Double Dragon, Final Fight type of of simple-but-yet-satisfying fight and that's what Yakuza 3 has. The many finishing moves along with pretty good AI makes the game fun to play. At certain point you are almost playing it just to fight, without all the driving/flying/diving fun/distraction. I spent about 3 hours every day for 2 weeks and finished the story mode, but only at a 55% completion rate. Still have some more life to it. With all the pros, Yakuza 3 also has alot of shortcominig. It could get repetitive and some ...
