About this product

Product Information

Years after featuring her on his smash hit BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, cult-television wunderkind Joss Whedon finally finds a starring role worthy of Eliza Dushku with this distinctly styled sci-fi series. DOLLHOUSE derives its provocative title from one of the shows primary settings: a laboratory-cum-dormitory tucked away in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles. Financed by a mysterious parent company known simply as the Rossum Corporation, the Dollhouse facility houses a group of people whose personalities and memories have been wiped clean so that they may be reversibly imprinted with a composite of several other individuals' characteristics, thus creating a customizable (though necessarily humanly flawed) persona tailor-made to the requests of clients. These "Dolls," or "Actives," may find themselves embroiled in and equipped for a deadly criminal transgression one day and fulfilling the romantic fantasies of a lonely buyer the next. Echo (Dushku) is one such "Doll." At first, it seems shes just like the rest: fated to regularly lose her memory and any semblance of a consistent personality, at least until her five-year contract with the Dollhouse is up. But is Echo developing an ever-increasing sense of self-awareness? This set includes 12 episodes of the first season of DOLLHOUSE.

Received this amazing film promptly, in very good condition as advertised (actually I would say it is in like new condition with slipcover), and well packaged in a padded envelope for secure shipping. I really appreciate that this seller posts the actual item for sale, not a stock photo, so I see what I’m actually buying! Movie played perfectly and almost completes my Clint Eastwood collection! A very positive buying experience. I am a repeat customer and highly recommend this excellent seller!!

  • Dollhouse Is Very Cool Dramatic Sci-Fi!

When I first watched this show on tv I just didn't know what to expect. Being a longtime fan of Eliza Dushku I'd seen her previous work in movies along with her earlier tv series Tru Calling. So I tuned into DH during the first season and I was mildly surprised and impressed. Dollhouse combines science fiction and drama into a well written and solidly acted show about a secretive residence where young male and female "dolls" are programmed to suit the fantasies and wishes of select high paying clients. The dolls are flesh and blood humans with one exception, they have a different type of brain that can be fine tuned to have the personality and mannerisms of any type of person whom the client demands. Each doll is therefore fine tuned and programmed for a period of 24 hours for the client ...

  • Unaired Episodes are the Best

For those of you who have not seen the two unaired episodes "Echo" and "Epitaph One" you don't know what you are missing. I originally bought this DVD set thinking it would just sit on the shelf along time because I had already seen all the episodes on TV. I was wrong! The two unaired episodes are the very best of season one. The original pilot "Echo" goes much deeper into the show than the pilot episode that was aired on FOX. There is more meaningful dialogue in this episode. "Echo" also does a much better job of establishing the charters of Topher, Boyd, and Dr. Saunders. On the weaker side of things the character of Paul Ballard is jumped into rather quickly in this episode, and is much better established in the aired pilot episode "Ghost". Expect the plot of each of these two episodes ...

  • Eye candy AND good writing!

When I first heard about the premise of this show, people whose personalities are erased between engagements and who have no memories of those engagements, I thought "Wow, that doesn't sound like they could sustain a show with that!" Boy, was I wrong. I should have known that the creator of Buffy The Vampire Slayer would be able to pull off an unlikely premise. Eliza Dushku (She played the daughter in True Lies among other things.) is a little weak when it comes to the vulnerable parts, but is very good when the role calls for the tough crusader fighting for the innocent and weak. The supporting cast is consistently good, with some really shining and the writing is good also. Included in the package are two un-aired episodes, the first pilot and a post season episode set 10 years in the ...

  • fun and thought-provoking

I loved this show from the start and bought it as soon as I could. The first 5 episodes are pretty good (some better than others)--action and hints of what's to come. Beginning with episode 6, "Man on the Street," it becomes amazing. The action continues to be great, but a lot of interesting questions are addressed as well. Does each person have an essence that cannot be erased--is there a soul? Is love something to be found at the deepest level and therefore indelible? Where is the line between morality and immorality? Or does the white gradually go to black with a lot of gray in between and how does a person determine when the gray has become too dark? Is it really the nature of humans to take things too far. Etc., etc.--you get the idea. I'd recommend not watching Epitaph 1 ...
