Product Information

Nikon presents this unique Wireless Speedlight system kit for fully automatic Close-up photographic exposures. The kit comprises of two SB-R200 Remote units attached to the lens and a SU-800 Commander unit attached to the cameras i-TTL metering system. All exposure and triggering communication is carried out using infrared wireless communication. The kit includes adaptors for frontal lighting, filters, and adaptor rings for the most popular Nikkor lens filter screw threads. Additional SB-R200 units or SB-800 and SB-600 units can also be controlled by the SU-800 to offer the ultimate Creative Lighting System flexibility either indoors or in the field.

    Fun and versatile kit

    Title says it all. Only caveat is the price - it's overpriced for what's essentially just a ring adapter and two single purpose strobes. That being said, all collectively perform that single purpose masterfully. The convenience of being able to attach the strobes at specific angles and orientations at equal distances from the subject and control their power individually and wirelessly through the su-800 (which I purchased separately) has made my macro photography almost effortless in the few shorts weeks that I've owned it. I look forward to adding more strobes to the package to take things even further.

    NIKON R 1 C 1 MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY LIGHTING SYSTEM

    An indispensable element in the pursuit of properly lighting small photographic subjects that require creative lighting techniques. What I find most pleasing is that Nikon has engineered this system to give state of the art performance with CLS and i-TTL digital cameras, and also provided rearward compatibility with some Nikon TTL film cameras with the addition of the SC-30 cord set. In time, I suspect that Nikon may redesign the SZ-1 and SW-11 holder and adapter for a less tenuous configuration. Overall the units ungainly appearance requires exercising considerable aforethought and care when mounted to a tripod and extreme caution with handheld operations, else damage can occur.
