Big is a catchy word for this title. It suits the storyline very well.
An eleven year old boy wished to be bigger. It so happens that while at a carnival there is a Mystic game, where wishes come true. So, after wishing to be larger he wakes up appearing to be thirty years of age. That's when the boy becomes frightened and his adventures begin. The mother is the first one to spot him; believing a stranger had come into their home.

At a traveling carnival in New Jersey he is refused entry to a ride and is embarrassed in front of a girl that he likes. He plays a ZOLTAR game and makes a wish that he was BIG. The mysterious game told him that his wish was granted! Not thinking too much about it, he wakes up the next morning in the body of a thirty year old. He don't know what to do. He rides his bike back to the carnival area but the carnival had packed up and gone. He hurried off to school to find his best friend Billy, and when they meet face to face, Billy is terrified until Josh can prove to him who he was. He couldn't go home, so with Billy's help he goes to NYC to try to find another Zoltar machine. Having no success they ... One thing leads to another, and with his childlike exuberance and charming smile, he soon catches the eye of the boss. At a competitor toy store, Mr McMillan finds Josh on a Saturday, playing with the toys and the other kids. He mistakes his play for somebody doing marketing research. Josh knows so much about toys that he is instantly promoted to a Vice President job on research. All of the ladder climbers are now jealous and cautious about him because nobody knows where he came from and they are all afraid of being outclassed. He soon is involved in a relationship with a female executive and is in the swing of things. He has real forward thinking ideas for toys like electronic comic books and modern transformers, and suddenly both fear and praise are his. But through all of this success, he is still a child and only wants to be able to return to being a child. Billy received the carnival information in the mail and brings it to Josh. Billy is mad because Josh is acting just like an adult now, having to function as such under the situation. Finally he realizes what he really wants. He likes the girl but he must return to childhood.
