About this product

Product Information

Just because Spin and Marty don't appear to have anything in common, that doesn't mean that they can't be friends in this series that appeared on THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB. Spin (Tim Considine) is a country boy who feels right at home at the summer camp at the Triple R Ranch, while Marty (David Stollery) is a kid from the city who is used to living in luxury. This release includes the first season of family fun in its entirety.

    GREAT FAMILY FUN

We really enjoyed watching this. It used to be on TV and you had to wait each week to watch the next episode. The days when movies/series were fun and kids were adventurous. It would be great for youngsters and parents to watch these old series. The ranch is where the kids learn skills and how to be good sports and friends and parts where you will really laugh. Did you ever hear of "Snipe Hunting?".

  • Great Memories From A Baby Boomers Childhood

Like a lot of the other reviewers, I grew up with the Mickey Mouse Club as a kid. And the serials were one of the big draws on the show. I couldn't wait to get home from school and start watching. The Hardy Boys I and II, Spin and Marty I, II, and III were all time favorites. As others have pointed out, Disney has not released series II of The Hardy Boys and series II and III of Spin and Marty, which is a darn shame, cause I know they're probably plenty of others who would like to be able to add them to their collection. Back in the 90's, the Disney Channel would run Mickey Mouse Club episodes at 2:00 in the A.M! I set my VCR and was able to get those additional serials. They're a little grainy, but still worth having. Great wholesome fun for the whole family. Watching Marty grow from a ...

  • Spin & Marty are a lot of fun!

The Adventures of Spin and Marty premiered on The Mickey Mouse Club in 1955 and scored an instant hit. Like many of Disney's most successful creations, Spin and Marty was a simple story. Rich, coddled Martin Markham (David Stollery) arrives at the Triple R in his grandmother's limousine and dismisses the dude ranch for boys as "a dirty old farm." His comment angers everyone, especially Spin Evans (Tim Considine), the most popular boy on the ranch. Over the course of the summer, Marty learns to relax and make friends; he and Spin become best buddies. Humor and wisdom are dispensed by wrangler Ollie (Leonard P. Greer), "Well I'll be a blue-nosed gopher!"; Marty's fussy butler, Perkins (J. Pat O'Malley); avuncular foreman Bill Burnett (Harry Carey, Jr.); and George (Sammee Tong), the Chinese ...

  • "Well, I'll be a blue-nosed gopher!"

I highly recommend this set. If you're like me, you never saw ALL of the episodes anyway so it's abut time you did. Included are a nice intro and background from the always interesting, and fellow baby-boomer, Leonard Maltin, plus, the orignal complete MICKEY MOUSE CLUB show that included the preview for SPIN & MARTY. By the time I was watching the show, it was already in a half-hour format so I was surprised to discover that the first 2 seasons, including the show included on these DVDs, was originally an hour long! As for the serial itself, for being 50+, I think SPIN AND MARTY still holds up quite well, thank you, so I say "Saddle Up, Boys!" Caveat Emptor: Keep in mind that this review comes from someone who is basically a 10 year old trapped in a the body of a 50-something who, while ...
