    Terrific Story

This is my second read through. The first in the 80s and now 35 years later. My impression is very different today than 35 yrs ago. The basic similarities to Stephen King's The Stand cannot be over stated. However my main complaint is Maccammons extreme overuse of the word 'snapped'. Sometimes 3 times on one page! Drives me crazy. Fingers, turtles and rice krispies snap. That's it. Still an enjoyable epic post apoplectic story with a lot of heart. I bought the paperback and the cover and back totally fell apart. It's OK tho bc I bought it for the story.

  • One of my favorites

At almost 1000 pages, reading Swan Song can seem daunting. But it's totally worth it! Once you start, it's hard to put down! Compelling throughout, with a satisfying conclusion. I only wish Mr. Mccammon would write a follow-up novel and let his readers know how Swan and the world fares in later years... One of my all time favorite books!

  • Swan Song- Hands down the greatest of all time!!!

I have read this book 4 times and am now reading it for the 5th. Every time I read it, it justs gets better. McCammon is amazing at character description and sucking you into the story. The first time I read it, I read it in under 2 days. (And it's nearly 1000 pages.) I've read many books in all different category's, and nothing has come even close to this one. I'm so in love w/ this that I just bought my b-friend a copy so he will read it. This book is about the world being decimated by world war 3. There's death and despair everywhere. All the major cities destroyed. There are 2 major waring factions that want control and then the people who are just trying to survive. This is a sci-fi as well as action/adventure. The "Satan" character is after the only entity that can foil all his ...

  • Swan Song by Robert McCammon..THE BEST

I have read many books but this is the VERY BEST book I have ever read..I hated for it to end...and have recommended it to everyone I talk to about books..I enjoyed this book so much that I bought every book written by Robert McCammon just to get the feeling again of his writing style..but no other book or author has compared to Swan Song..It does start a little slow but after the first chapter, it is hard to put the book down..when I did have to stop reading, I couldn't wait to start reading again and thinking about it..I hated for it to end so much that after the last chapter, I started reading it over again & picked up on a few things that I missed the first time...Its the best !!! I wish there would be a follow-up novel..

  • Swan Song - the best book I have ever read!

This book is thick, but do not be discouraged by it. You will start reading it and read it in every spare moment you have until the last page is done. Then, you will wish for 1,000 more pages! This is a story of how people unite through a holocoust. When the world ends, almost, a special girl from an abusive background lives through a nuclear war by hiding out in an underground shelter. She has special abilities and talents that eventually saves the world and cleanses it of evil and purifies it with her pure goodness. My favorite references are made when the keloids fall off people's faces and their true identities are revealed on the outside - if they are evil, they are ugly. If they are pure, they are beautiful. I have read many books, and this is my All-Time-Favorite (this is coming ...
