About this product

Product Information

Readers around the world have fallen for Kelley Armstrong's intoxicating, sensual and wicked tales of the paranormal, in which demons and witches, werewolves and vampires collide - often hilariously, sometimes violently - with everyday life. In Armstrong's first six novels, Elena, Paige and Eve have had their way with us. Now get ready for Jaime Vegas, the luscious, lovelorn and haunted necromancer. . . Jaime, who knows a thing or two about showbiz, is on a television shoot in Los Angeles when weird things start to happen. As a woman whose special talent is raising the dead, her threshold for weirdness is pretty high: she's used to not only seeing dead people but hearing them speak to her in very emphatic terms. But for the first time in her life - as invisible hands brush her skin, unintelligible fragments of words are whispered into her ears, and beings move just at the corner of her eye-she knows what humans mean when they talk about being haunted. She is determined to get to the bottom of these manifestations, but as she sets out to solve the mystery she has no idea how scary her investigation will get, or to what depths ordinary humans will sink in their attempts to gain supernatural powers. As she digs into the dark underside of Los Angeles, she'll need as much Otherworld help as she can get in order to survive, calling on her personal angel, Eve, and Hope, the well-meaning chaos demon. Jeremy, the alpha werewolf, is also by her side offering protection. And, Jaime hopes, maybe a little more than that. "As I knelt on the cobblestones to begin the ritual, I opened not some ancient leather pouch, but a Gucci make-up bag. . . . I know little about the geography and theology of the afterlife, but I do know that the worst spirits are kept secured, and my risk of "accidentally" tapping into a hell dimension is next to nil. Even if I do bring back some depraved killer's spirit, what can it do to me? When you deprive someone of the ability to act in the living world, he's pretty darned helpless. In death, even the worst killer plummets from lethal to merely annoying. Yet whatever had been trying to contact me apparently could cross that barrier, could act in the living world. . .at least on me. I added an extra helping of vervain to the censer." --from No Humans Involved

Praise for Kelley Armstrong: "Mesmerizing. . . . Armstrong is a talented and original writer whose inventiveness and sense of the bizarre is arresting." -London Free Press "[She] brings a new brand of ferocity to horror literature." -The Hamilton Spectator "[Armstrong's] take on the well-travelled world of supernatural beings is witty and original. She's at her best when examining the all-too-human dilemmas of being superhuman." -The Globe and Mail "Armstrong has created a persuasive, finely detailed other-worldly cosmology." -Toronto Star "It's easy to spot Armstrong's greatest writing strength. She writes likable characters . . . [She] has a singular ability to tell an action story without degenerating into cliché. . . . A strong female lead, an interesting plot and well-placed humour are clear hallmarks of Armstrong's writing." -Winnipeg Free Press From the Hardcover edition.

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • No Humans Involved

Kelley Armstrong knows how to develop characters, drama and suspense. I usually know who done it so to speak, but in this No Humans Involved, I continued to be involved throughout the entire book. I like sex as well as the next person however, I loved the non graphic, yet totally illustrated interactions between the two main characters. I enjoyed how the plot just kept getting thicker and thicker with no real give aways and I believe Kelley Armstrong remained loyal to her characters personalities. I thought the Angelique Grady character was underdeveloped somewhat and almost useless to the plot. Seems like she was a throwaway character at best. I think I would have liked her to have a little more substance and a possible future development in the scheme of things. I thought the ...

This is the 7th book in the Otherworld series; (1) Bitten (2) Stolen (3) Dime Store Magic (4) Industrial Magic (5) Haunted (6) Broken (7) No Humans Involved and the 8th book which comes out in April 2008; Personal Demon. There are also more stories in this series on line and in anthologies, check out Armstrong's web site for reading order of the online stories. I've grown attached to all of the characters in these books and would recomend the series to anyone who enjoys the paranormal. The web site lists this series as a Paranormal Suspense, but there are romances interwoven in each story. One thing that is different about this series is that each book is written (narrated) by a different character... told from their point of view. The series isn't strictly werewolf like the first book, ...

BACK OF BOOK SAYS: IT'S the most anticipated reality tv even of the season. 3 spiritualists gathered together in one house to raise the ghost of marilyn monroe. for celebrity medium jamie vegas, its' her best shot at the celebrity holy grail: a tv show of her own. because unlike her colleagues who are more style than substance, jaime is the real thing. ok, i have to tell you in my own personal opinion this book IS SO VERY VERY VERY FUSTRATING.............. here you have waited SEVERAL BOOKS TO FINALLY GET JAIME AND JEREMY TOGETHER and nothing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i wanted to scream. the book is a very very big TEASE.....................

  • Lots of Sassy Fun in Paranormal World

I really enjoy the novels written by Kelley Armstrong. It still strikes me as ironic that witches, werewolves, demons and all kinds of paranormals are still bound by some of the very restrictions of the construct of 21st century Western society. Oh, Like: the need to pay mortgages, taxes, using flipcharts or powerpoint at meetings, shopping and hoping that the one you fancy feels the same and how to find out without losing face. Her characters are easy to relate to. I find them a little bit sassy without turning each kiss into a full blown sexual encounter. Not that I mind all the time, but it can be a bit much. Her scenes are fun. Her characters have faults and foibles and interesting plots that have me returning again and again. I just wish Kelley could turn them out even faster, well ...
