Rolling Stone's #8 Greatest Albums of All Time - For Good Reason

The Clash's "Platinum" double album, London Calling is Rolling Stone's #8 Greatest Albums of All Time. Why? Because The Clash not only composes brilliant punk but employed rockabilly, soul, ska and rock'n'roll with teeth and grit. Produced by Guy Stevens, who threw wine bottles and even ladders at the band to get the sound he wanted out of them, London Calling was a turning point in the complexity and richness of The Clash's sound. Cover art is an homage to Elvis Presley's first album and the liner sleeves feature all the lyrics. The album includes the unlisted last minute additional track Train in Vain. This album is brilliant start to finish; and it's never finished.

  • Best album of the 1980s,,, even though it was released in 1979!

You really can't describe it. Perfect? Songs with swing-tempos, rockabilly, reggae, Bo Didley influences. Lyrics about global warming, mobsters, drug addiction, Montgomery Clift's car wreck and the Spanish Civil War. The Clash believed rock was dead and this was going to be the last rock album. It many have been.

  • One of the all-time greats!!

I remember how this album changed the face of music in 1980 as disco thankfully died! The album itself is very high quality and is a great addition to my vinyl collection.
