such a fun movie - love the costumes. and the disc only format is ideal. Maybe not the purists Jane Austin - but a treat in its own way.

My all time Favorite Austen tale is Pride and Prejudice. Along in 1940 comes young Laurence Oliver who has the COLD DARCY down pat. a bit too HAMMY at times but we like his classic looks and IMAGE of Darcy is what every actor since Olivier has drawn from. Greer Garson is lovely but a bit too MATURE (old) for the very young Elizabeth but we love her anyway. Pretty SMART and so very Lizzie~ the Scene where Dary is trying to show her how to shoot Arrows and she hits a bullseye is EXCELLENT~ funny too~ there is PLENTY OF HUMOR IN THIS ONE and the boring boring boring Mr. Collins in this one is GREAT. if you have never read this book most people will not be a major fan of this movie but it moves along very nicely and give us a very fun trip into the Bennet Family. DVD is a dream come true
I had the original VHS tape and loved it. When VHS recorders/players were phased out, I could not watch this oldie but goodie any longer. Then, I saw it was available on DVD and purchased it immediately. My only regret was that it was not remastered like some of the other old movies,but I realize that it probably would not have been cost effective to remaster it.
