About this product

Product Information

A leading authority examines the facts and fancies behind the Atlantis theme in history, science, and literature. Sources include the classical works from which Plato drew his proposal of the existence of an island continent, Sir Thomas More's Utopia , the Lemurian Continent theory, K. T. Frost's equation of Atlantis with Crete, and many other citations of Atlantis in both famous and lesser-known literature. Related legends are also recounted and refuted, and reports include accounts of actual expeditions searching for the sunken continent and attempts to prove its existence through comparative anatomy and zoology.

As advertised! Packaging was well done. It was refreshing to receive a true first edition first printing that was first off the true first first and second this copy arrived alive. Too many times a book will arrive in an ENVELOPE perhaps padded perhaps not. Books get destroyed if not packaged correctly. Thank you! Bid with confidence this seller is good to go.

This book was not actually written by L. Sprague De camp It was actualy written originally in 1954, Mr. De camp says in the foreword he has added to it to bring some of it more up to date with more modern scientifically accepted research and deleted some entries that are no longer valid, I assume he has bought the rights to this book and edited it (as he has other works in the past). This book promises to be a look at the legends of Atlantis and others and discuss the authors theories on such, instead what we have is another book written by an era "approved Scientist" who ,in My Opinion, has written this book in the hopes of having it published so he could seek the approval of his collegues, since most professionals back then and is still true today must strive to survive in the publish or ...
