You'll Shutter At This Stellar Camera!
When I first decided to purchase a NEW camera that could also record videos way back in 2010, I researched quite a bit before finally landing with this make and model! It had served me well for nearly a full decade when it finally failed me due to an unknown cause just before Christmas of that year. As providence would have it, I searched on eBay for the exact same make and model of camera as the one that got damaged and lo and behold, a replacement was found and purchased! I just LOVE this easy to use point and shoot' camera from Nikon! I can't say enough about it! It takes great photos and videos too! In fact, I use this camera nearly exclusively for my YouTube Channel Videos! At just over 1k subscribers, I depend on my equipment to always work and always be ready at a moment's ... Nikon Coolpiz S8000 camera, Cool Camera.
I just wanted to update my aging Casio ex-z500 camera, which by the way is still a great camera. I came across the Nikon S8000 and S8100 cameras. Looking online, I found these Nikon S8000 refurbished for much less than in the stores. After checking into them and the company selling the factory refurbs, I ordered one for my Christmas. My camera came and after finding a small problem, was quickly replaced with the appoligies from the company I ordered it from. Now, I am still finding what all the many features do on this camera, the zoom lense, low light features, sport sequence photos, smart portrait and more, all being in a non-cluttered, easy to use format. The S8000 takes great, super clear photos that you can also alter, in camera. Though being just alittle larger than my older ... The only cons I've found, the pop-up flash was in the road for awhile but you get used to it quickly. That's it... Even the fact that my camera is a factory refurb is not a con to me. I saved a bundle buying the S8000 refurb over the S8100 new, buying just behind the curve and the camera is new, with a very good warranty from Cameta Camera to boot. This is my second refurbed camera and will likely buy another, meanwhile I'm going to enjoy my new Nikon

Nice Camera for pocket size.
Pretty near 5 stars. Takes great close ups. But a few little things could have been improved upon with this first model of the S8000. Your left hand/fingers get into the way of the flash pop up. And A biggy is they expect you to charge the batteries in the camera...So that means your camera can be out of use for 2-4 hours or more if you have a few extra batteries to charge after a day of taking pic's. No good. We picked up an external charger for under 6 bucks including shipping off of Amazon. (Same Charger goes from between 6-20 with shipping so check around carefully.) I don't understand why the other models new in this series with less pixels and features and zoom power would sell for almost or as much as this one does. Unless the size of the camera is critical this one is great. Now we ... Pretty near 5 stars. Takes great close ups. Now we don't use the video feature on our pocket cameras but if you have noise...you haven't read the manual about turning off a few functions and when you have done that...the noise is no longer audible. Over all it's a real winner for closeup work. Not bad for distant shots. We also own the Nikon P80 and P90 and sold off our Nikon 5700 and 8700's two years ago to pay for P upgrades now going to sell one of the P80's but hold off updating beyond the P90 because the P100 doesn't have as much pixels yet. The weight of the P90 to the P80 came as a slight shock too. We want our cameras to be light and small for hiking and backpacking and biking. Like the San Juan Islands for a week this summer by bike. Well take the S8000 and the P90 and of course that charger along too. (Remember not all cameras work for all people. You have to choose your own don't ask others to choose for you. Or worse pick out a camera based on what someone else buys normally in a brand only to hate it and try to blame the people who own that brand but not that camera for your mistake.) Each camera is different and each person is different too.

perfect for the beginner or average user,great photos.
Great unit for the average point-and-shoot-person. easy to use and operate. NO MANUAL MODE!,so dont expect to customize your photo. HD is only 780 NOT 1080! DIGITAL ONLY for zooming while video recording. Im my opinion,this is a great "pocket" camera for taking that spur of the moment photo,but that is all. for it's age the features are very "behind the times"
