        Love this great old movie, It's even better in black & white. Superb acting and directing!

        I've watched this movie many times over many years, it's still just as entertaining! Movies are made like this today! You could escape from reality in the old movies like this. Today's movies are so much like real life around us they are boring. Plus actors can't act as well today as the ones 75 to 50 years ago. Even the directing was better.

        Beware making pacts with the Devil

        Good story with interesting characters and situations. The only negative was the over-acting by the protagonist. He whines, mopes, and complains with such vehemence that I was quickly sick of him. A subtle performance would have engendered more sympathy. All the other actors were great and the story was clever and interesting. I recommend it despite the flaw.
