    Only scratches the surface...

..... of what truly transpired during those couple of days.. Granted you can't re-create all the amazing heroic efforts the British people did those days as there were many sacrifices and many amazing things accomplished with sailboats and small craft that were never meant to brave the treacherous waters of the Channel.. They brought soldiers back with some of them bailing leaky overloaded boats with their hands and helmets just to keep going for the English shore. Saving all those lives meant they had more to fight back the onslaught they were facing. Personally the whole story in my opinion should be created in a mini-series type show but I realize that majority of public may not be eager to see such a series. I give the director and crew credit they did successfully capture the ...

    Not that entertaining

The movie didn't really draw me in. It could of been great but it was kind of like sitting back and reading a report of what happened. This could of been such a powerful movie but left me feeling like I watched a group of short clips put together with very little story. They need writers like when they made movies like Midway etc...

  • An Awesome World War II Movie

This is an excellent movie that tells the story of the evacuation of Dunkirk without bogging down in extraneous details. It doesn't go into politics or the reasons why it came to be, it just gives us a soldier's view of what actually happened with magnificent realism. If you're a World War II history buff, this is a movie you can't miss. Even if you're not, it's worth seeing how thousands of ordinary people accomplished heroic deeds. The bonus material about how the movie was filmed shows the extraordinary measures taken by the producers to accurately recreate this fascinating piece of history.

  • It's in between terrible and unsatisfactory. I'd say 1.5 stars

When the movie came out, I was extremely excited about it due to its PG-13 rating and the ability to watch it with my son. I LOVE War movies and Westerns. I'm glad we didn't waste our time seeing it in the theater and I'm even more glad I only have $7 invested in this movie. It's almost like they spent all this time and money making a good movie only to have the editor let their kid do the final edit with iMovie or something, taking out storylines and plots. I spent half the movie trying to figure out if they were showing flashbacks and going back in time. This SHOULD have been a great movie. The only thing good I can say about it is that at least it wasn't long. I normally don't take the time to write reviews on the actual movie, but this one was so bad I had to at least warn people.

  • Meh

I bought this for my 87 year old father as part of his Christmas gifts this year as he is heavily involved in WW2 documentaries and films. I eagerly awaited its arrival as I was sure it would be great. Perhaps I was not the target audience as I knew very little about Dunkirk and what those poor fella went thru. I am a Tom Hardy fan and the only scenes of him are as a pilot and his face is covered so it is not much like he is even in the film. I had a hard time following the characters, nobody really stood out, also the constant switching from boat to boat then being back in the water left me confused. I expected better from this director.
