This kinetic horror/action hybrid stars Tak Sakaguchi as Prisoner KSC2-303, a criminal who has just escaped from a maximum security prison. Heading to the Forest of Resurrection to meet up with some gangsters, KSC2-303's escape plan soon veers off course when an argument with one of the gangsters leads KSC2-303 to shoot him. Worse still, KSC2-303 finds out the hard way that when you kill something in the Forest of Resurrection, it does not stay dead. Things get even more complicated when all the dead people the gangsters have buried in the forest begin coming back to life and packing heat. Blending zombie horror with EVIL DEAD 2 style slapstick and Hong Kong action pyrotechnics, VERSUS is a very bloody and very enjoyable thriller.

If it's blood you want, it's blood you'll get
This movie is a great action movie. It's about an escape made by prisoner KSC2-303 from a maximum facility and enters the Forest of Resurrection. There he faces both the living and living dead. His opponent, a man that seemingly cannot be defeated. But prisoner KSC2-303 is shrouded in mystery and is bent on protecting the woman with blood that resurrects. The fighting in this movie is great. The characters weren't all that memerable and neither was the English dub voice overs. Here's my rating. Story: 4/5 Characters: 3/5 Fighting: 5/5 Action and Gore: 5/5 Rewatchability: 4/5 All in all this movie is good. The twist at the end was both surprsing and almost disappointing but Tak Sakaguchi makes up for any slack in the movie's plotline. A definate buy if you're into violent hack ... Versus...If you like anime or japanese videogames!
Im not going to review the story of this movie, because it was just good vs. evil combined w/ japanese nonsense. However, if you like over the top anime or videogames w/ over the top characters like Dante(Devil May Cry), then you may be in for quite a surprise. Every character is eccentric, and the main character is cool beyond belief. He does cool poses and it plays guitar riffs............no it's cooler than it sounds I promise! The action is better than any John Woo movie.Very bloody. Icredible choreography, and impossible attacks. Although it seemed low budget, it was amazing how much they did w/ so little! The english dub was pretty good too. As previously stated,there is nothing to the story, but the action makes up for it. So if you are into the japanese twisted style, then you ... To me this movie seems like real life anime,like Inu Yasha.It has zombie action,matrix style fight scenes and some comedy.Anybody that dies in the woods will join the ranks of the undead.If you are thinking about watching this movie,go into it with an open mind because its not a typical zombie movie and you might be a little dissapointed.
