About this product
Product Information
Showcasing this stunning collection of photographs taken on visits to Scotland nearly every year between 1948 and 1966. Andrew Grant Forsyth's Scottish photographs show the changing locomotive scene throughout that country after the Nationalisation of the railways in 1948. Forsyth visited Scotland almost every year between 1948-1966 to take photographs of his beloved locomotive stock. Illustrated are the graceful looking ex-Great North of Scotland 4-4-0's, the ex North British Railway 'Glen' and 'Scott' 4-4-0's, the Caledonian 4-4-0's and numerous 0-6-0 and tank locomotive classes remaining from both those companies. Also reproduced are many examples of the London and North Eastern Railway express locomotive fleet together with locomotives of former London Midland and Scottish Railway and examples of the post-nationalisation Standard locomotives of British Railways. AUTHORS: Brian J. Dickson worked in the publishing and printing industries for over 35 years before retiring in 2000. He is now an active volunteer locomotive fireman and driver at a heritage railway. He has written a number of railway books and lives in Buckinghamshire. Andrew Forsyth was a lifelong railway enthusiast particularly of the London and North Eastern Railway. His railway photography started in 1947 and his catalogue of photographs show visits to Scotland nearly every year from 1948 until 1966. In his spare time Andrew was one of the organisers of the Seafield Railway Club which arranged visits to sheds and railway sites throughout eastern England and Scotland. 130 b/w illustrations

- t***6 (377)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseAmazing price way cheaper than others, First item came damaged, but well packaged, I sent photos and they requested I sent it back and they sent a new one out, was abit annoying trying to find an open post office with work, but they did send the new one quickly, it was definitely damaged before being sent so that's something to watch, especially as they requested the book back, but I now have a perfect condition book, so positive outcome
