After a seven-year break from playing Harry Callahan, Clint Eastwood returned to direct, produce, and star in this, the third sequel to DIRTY HARRY. In this one, Harry gets himself in trouble with the police brass yet again. To get him out of town, they send him to a coastal town to do a background investigation on a murder victim. Unfortunately, his enemies follow him. That's unfortunate for his enemies, of course. Callahan also finds himself falling for a mysterious woman (Sondra Locke) who may be more than just the survivor of a gang rape a decade before.

Dirty Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) is back for the fourth time as a San Francisco police detective who refuses to take a break from law enforcement after being forced on vacation by superiors due to a shooting incident. Now, he is determined to stop a serial killer on the loose, as gang rape victim Jennifer Spencer (Sondra Locke) seeks revenge by murdering each of her attackers. Although this is a good movie, it does not quite measure up to the other "Dirty Harry" movies-and never quite makes the point of "Go ahead, Make my day" that the other flixs make. Still it is very good for a nights entertainment, and adds to Eastwoods credits as a director that have exploded after this movie was made with such hits as GRAN TORINO, CHANGELING, ABSOLUTE POWER, MILLION DOlLAR BABY, etc. All ... Teh original Make My Day movie
Sudden Impact, another in the Dirty Harry series, showcases Clint Eastwood and his tough guy side with occasional flashes of compassion. It continues with the theme of justice triumphing over evil. Overall it is a great action flick and timeless in some of its messages. Totally enjoyable! Jeeper Guy
