  • Got Lucky 2.2GHz Dou-Core CPU Under $25.00

You have to Love it. It's just like getting "Free Money". I was in the process of building a "Low Budget" Media recording and presentation PC. I decided on the CPU (AMD Sempron 140 2.7 GHz Processor SDX140HBGQBOX)coupled with a Gigabyte (MA-78LM-S2H) mother board. Flash the Bios on the motherboard and Viola, un-locked second core. This only works the SB710 and newer AMD chipsets. The SB710 Chipset seems to be the key in unlocking second core or even the forth core on certain CPUs. Build is complete. Final specs. Below: AMD Sempron 140 2.7 GHz Processor (locked Second core running a 2.2GHz has stably over-clocked to the 2.7GHz running Prime95 for 6 hours with out errors ($24.35 Ebay) Gigabyte (MA-78LM-S2H) motherboard ($40.00 Ebay) Patriot Viper DDR2 1066 PC2 8500 2x2048MB ($70.00 Ebay) XFX ...

  • amazing low priced budget CPU cant beat the price per prefomance

This is a great little processor for a budget build. the one I got unlocked to a dual core 82W regor 4400 running ddr3 1600 ram 8GB got this for a friend to upgrade his machine from an old single core 939 board I was very suprized that a sempron would preform this well. and if you want a nice little HTPC that is quiet it runs great as a single core at 45W TDP.

  • Good cpu for web and casual gaming

I personally bought this to udpdate my bios on my motherboard to accept a higher wattage cpu, but for those who are looking to build a single core home computer that don't need a highend quad core or higher for the price this a good cpu it will play Dragon Age with a good after market video card for those gamers who cannot afford to build a new system and has not experienced to much problem with multi-tasking things as of yet for me. Just thought i would share my thoughts.

  • Good Deal

This processor by itself, for around 15-30$ is an amazing deal. It is crazy that AMD can offer an AM3 socket processor with DDR3 memory support for this price. With some tech knowledge about motherboards and chipsets, it is possible to turn this processor into a dual core, which my MSI 790FX-GD70 recognizes as an Athlon II X2 240. This must be what the chip is in its native form and AMD turns it into a single core budget chip. Overclocking potential is very good, i can get it to run at 3.6Ghz with some voltage tweaking. Performance is what you pay for. This chip will come no where NEAR touching even a Phenom I or even a Core Duo chip, but with a healthy graphics card(Radeon 3800+, or Geforce 8800) you can have a happy gaming experience. Dont spend too much on a graphics card though(radeon ...
