About this product

Product Information

Teenager Alex Rogan lives and works in the trailer-park that his mother owns. His life consists of contemplating his rather bleak future, and waiting for word on his college loan application to arrive. One night all this changes forever. Alex possesses an extraordinary skill at video games, and when this skill attracts a space-travelling recruiter looking for pilots to protect the galaxy from outside forces, he suddenly finds himself on another planet in the middle of an inter-galactic war. It seems that his game-playing abilities are an invaluable military asset to the embattled "Star League of Planets."

Great seller! Nice set of DVDs. Like new instead of just Very Good as described. Even the "presentation" box was in great shape. Arrived much sooner than expected and well-packaged for shipping. I think packaging is important because things can be ruined if they aren't in decent packaging. Much appreciated.

    A great movie for generations!

This version of this movie is a classic. I understand they have a remake in the works to add some glitz or wow visual effects, but its grass-roots-to-glory story, its presentation (even in its now dated state), its raw imagination, and era cultural comedy (love those hairdos!) make it a movie well worth watching! The brilliant, imaginative ideas and adventures shared have inspired decades of writing and art in my own life, enrichment, and enjoyment, and I am now sharing them with my own children. Definitely in a class like Disney's early Tron, Flight of the Navigator, and the like!

  • The Last Starfighter DVD

The Last Starfighter is a neat little movie in which a boy plays a video game, scores big, and is recruited to defend the Star League. Today, the United States Military is presently recruiting in a very similar fashion. Recruitment centers, in many cities, have given way to Video Game arcades that involve young men and women and lead them to the military as a viable career option. Outstanding! And to think that it all started with an innocent little film like Last Starfighter. The film has a great cast, a simple story, with good versus evil, and a resolution of victory & love in the end. Similar to a Star Wars type story line - but without all of the hoopla and the never-ending saga. The story includes technology, coming of age, action adventure and romance. It has it all! It's neat, ...

  • Sci Fi ish, Good for the soul, Entertaining, and just a good clean movie!

For the longest time I didn't know who Dan O'Herlihy was until I surfed the internet and found his picture. I was referring to the Character Grig the Alien. The Starfighter animation seens were kind of corny a bit, but good for the time era. I think it was Robert Prestons last movie her made, not sure. Still loved the movie. I'll view it again and again. Oh, you can know that it was Dan O'Herlihy that starred in the movie sequel Robo Cop as the head of OCP.

  • The Last Starfighter

This is a great SCI- FI Movie from 1984. It stars (then) youngsters Lance Guest and Catherine Mary Stewart along with Robert Preston and a fantastically made up Dan O'Herlihy (plays a cool alien). This crew puts on well acted scenes along with special effects that rivaled Star Wars 3. It is a good story line well acted and supported. Clean enough for kids from 2 to 90 to enjoy. This is my second version of the move. The first is on VHS and sized down I was thrilled to find the Wide Screen DVD as the special effects overwhelmed the size of the old TV. I have watched it 2 times since I purchased it and keep finding new little nuances taking place in the sidelines. I highly recommend this to any and all Sci-Fi Fans! Great addition to any video library.

  • The Last Star Fighter still plays well today

classic 80's film one of the first to use computer generated ships and space dated now (movie made in 1984) but still loads of fun for the story it tells Alex Rogan (Lance Guest) lives in a trailer park and spends his days playing the Starfighter video game. never thinking he could escape the trailer park one night and the high score changes that. Upon meeting an alien (Robert Preston) who convinces him to use his skills in real combat, Rogan heads to space to protect the galaxy from invasion. several of those in the movie will be seen or have been in several of the star trek shows such as Wil Wheaton who's speaking parts were cut but is still visable, Marc Alaimo, Dan Mason, Barbara Bosson, Norman Snow and Geoffrey Blake. But notable among them is Meg Wyllie "Granny Gordon" who stars in ...
