About this product

Product Information

The Last Remnant is an original RPG by Square-Enix with large-scale, turn-based battles and an open-world feel for exploration and discovery. Squads, known as unions, are composed of up to five characters each. In battle, players give orders to unions, not to individual units, and each union has a single pool of hit points. This places focus of combat on creating and developing the most efficient, self-reliant unions possible, in the time between fights. Different situations call for different specialties, but nearly any union is well served by a mix of tough-tanking characters, advantage-shifting support characters, and life-preserving healers. Although players do not control their characters directly in battle, they can respond to onscreen cues with well-timed button presses to increase the power of their characters' attacks, giving combat a layer of real-time immediacy.

The Last Remnant is set in an original world of fantasy and science-fiction where humans, a race of Lizard people, and other beast-like humanoids live, both in peace and in war. Players take the role of Rush Sykes, a brooding young man drawn into the impersonal conflicts of the land by a personal, family obligation. Unlike in many RPG over-world maps, there are no random, wandering monsters. There is no shortage of fearsome creatures and other enemies to fight and profit from, however, when Rush and his crew are ready to seek them out. Ultimately, the world is in turmoil over battle for control of Remnants: huge, ancient objects of unrivaled power. Keeping things square, it will take an epic adventure by a great-but-reluctant hero to understand the truth behind that power.

A RPG like the old ones

A RPG not made for gamers but the audience who really play videogames, by adding new gameplay mechanics to push forward the genre, the 'definitve' version of The Last Remnant is actually for computers since it fixes and add some features; like further management of units, balance some stuff here and there enough for an improvement of the game experience further than the gamesystem´s versions (PS3/360). Xbox360 version's only real downside is some frame droping due loading most of the time and somewhat slow texture loading. David best boi.

  • Hurried much?

The last remnant is one of those game that really tries to be great and falls just short of its mark. While the idea behind the game is great some flaws take away a little too much from the game to where it feels like they rushed this game out. Here are some good points and bad points that I've noticed while playing. Story? It's thin, very very thin. I'm hoping it'll get better since I haven't yet finished the game but insofar you get tidbits and lots of loose ends that just hang out there. Information is obtained out of thin air and the plot moves sluggishly. The character voice overs are done well but the dialogue is stretched almost to breaking point with awkward silences between sentences like "OK". Graphics Beautiful. The artwork in this game is stunning and full. Unfortunately the ...

  • Epic RPG for the XBOX 360

"Epic Battles = Epic Game!" The Last Remnant is the latest RPG from Square Enix. It's hook was the ability to have huge battles between two opposing armies. And they did that right. The battles can get BIG. 15 party members vs. 20-something monsters? No problem. That's within the first few hours, and it only gets bigger from there. Story:The Last Remnant's story is a bit cliche, but it gets the job done. Brother and sister Rush and Irina Sykes get a letter (actually, a hologram) from their Mom and Dad telling them to come live in the town of Elysion. Mom and Dad (who work at the Academy) have been researching Remnants for a while now, and haven't had time to come home. Just as the letter ends, Rush and Irina are attacked, and Irina is kidnapped! Rush is bound and determined to find her, ...

  • The Last Remnant

This is a pretty good game. I wouldn't say excellent, but pretty good. grinding may get tedious, and leveling up is a bit different than your average RPG. I would say it's more like leveling up skills and what not. There are also battle ranking to level up, which I think is more of the leveling up portion as oppose to the skills, hp, and etc. If I were to describe it, its more like hmm... say Dynasty Warrior meets Final Fantasy 13??? Man, I suck at describing, lets just say they are trying to do a lot in this game, hence the lag it gets lol. I say its pretty laggy and sometimes attacks can be random. It's always best to try and play this game to get a feel for it. I really don't think its popular amongst people that are into final fantasy type games and i guess its pretty strategy type ...

  • This game is either hate it or love it. Game progression is very B-lined.

The Last Remnant is a game created in resemblance of final fantasy with the exception that it has an option to have multiple squads with which to strategize and coordinate your attacks with. The whole combat engine is a little weird however. For example: If you start out behind an enemy when you attack it you do not get a bonus to attack damage because your flanking that enemy from behind. What you get instead is both combat groups become deadlocked. There are some other small things that seem off while in combat but to list them would be unnecessary. This game in all is fairly ok though. You can do some really interesting things if you have the patience to make it through the game to those points in the story. If you have nothing else to do I would recommend getting this just so you have ...
