    Good book, beautiful patterns

I am just starting on chain mail jewelry. The book shows how to make it. Worth owning, used.

  • Top critical review

if it's a good price go for it.

Good enough book shows some interesting designs. However, most of the designs I would never make myself as they are unappealing and would likely not sell. It did give me a couple new ideas and for me that makes what I paid worth it.

  • Quick and Easy Chainmail Jewelry

Lark Books has done a good job in compiling a good range of chaimail patterns for the budding beginner to a relatively advanced chainmail designer. The book contains 12 beginner projects, 8 intermediate projects and 9 advanced projects., all of which contains stunning and beautiful jewelry created from the basic European 4-1, Japanese Chain mail (most variations), King's mail to the visually stunning spiral 6-1 and Byzantine. All the instructions in this book are clear, each section of the chain connection points are indicated with different colours for every section added for the simplest visual ease and will have you making your own beautiful chain mail jewelry in no time. Book covers bracelets, earrings, necklaces and even anklets and is suitable for the budding beginner starting on ...

  • Step by Step Projects

Good step by step project instructions -- easy to understand - shows you how to pattern your rings to make the jewelry. This is not just an idea book that expects you to know how to make the patterns already. Sections cover chain mail basics, beginner, intermediate and advanced projects. Yes, I know you can find chain weaves for free on the internet... there are several sites just check out any search engine but there are very few with jewelry projects. If you want to learn chain mail jewelry, this is a good place to start. If you have trouble understanding how to make chain mail you may want to view the dvd weaving silver chain mail bracelets by spider -- she makes it look easy. I have only seen Volume 1 of the 2 videos and it is excellent.

  • Poor step by step directions

This book has many nice chain maille designs and ideas, more than other books, however I didn't find the step by step directions to be clear enough to successfully make the patterns. The book claims that the patterns are designed for beginners, but without proper directions, the patterns are very difficult to make. I have been designing and selling jewelry for years, independantly and in various shops throuout my area. I'm a skilled and competent person who is easily able to follow directions. I have had this book for one week and have already failed my first three attempts to create a piece of jewelry that resembles the piece shown on the page. Specific directions are needed for these intricate designs.
