About this product

Product Information

Taking place 20 years after the events in Deus Ex, Invisible War reveals a futuristic world where basic needs are left unmet. It is a world on the brink of chaos after the dismantling of the mighty biotech corporations, a world where multiple religious and political groups now lust after power. Thus begins the sequel to 2000's critically acclaimed first-person shooter, which finds players investigating the different factions struggling for control to determine which groups are beneficial and which are a threat. Enhancements to the core engine include a retooled physics system, refined AI, added character animation, and more choices on the part of the player.

As in the original game, the style of play helps shape the game as it progresses, from how characters interact with the protagonist to the types of situations encountered. Each potential conflict can be resolved in a number of ways, through peaceful means or through violence, using stealth or a show of force. Characters can once again outfit their bodies with an array of biotech parts, some of which include the ability to see through walls, disappear from radar, regenerate from critical hits, or jump 40 feet in the air. The non-linear story takes players from Seattle to remote locations in Cairo and Antarctica.

  • Xbox: Deus Ex - Invisible War

GRAPHICS Ion Storm introduces a new graphics engine with Invisible Storm, one they plan on using in the upcoming Thief III. The dynamic lighting is close to perfect with plenty of moving shadows, flickering fires and environmentally appropriate lights. When playing the game if you happen to knock over a lamp (a la the new physics engine in which almost any object can be picked up or moved) the light from the lamp now shines in the room differently. This serves to create a very immersive effect. However the effect is frequently broken whenever you pick up and throw an object as if it were weightless. Each of the levels is beautifully textured, with very few repeating textures apparent, giving each location a unique feel to it. Another improvement seen in this new graphics engine are the ...

  • Deus Ex 2

We had owned the first version on a Mac. So we had to try the second - on an xbox. It offers challenges like the first. The storyline becomes complex and your choices harder as it goes on. It also includes past ties with the characters in the first version; this is a "real high" for gamers that played the first! The visual and interaction is like a first person shooter, but requires more than a good eye and trigger finger. You must make good decisions about what you say, augment, take or break, and who you align with from beginning to end. If you don't have ingenuity, patience, or a desire to explore? This game is NOT for you. If you wonder/fantasize about end time scenarios and like Nanotechnology, you'll enjoy the game. The game does take a lot of time to finish, so don't expect ...

  • Great Conscept - Horrible Gameplay

The story is great, the graphics are cool, the idea is ahead of its time, the frame rate...Is horrible. This game is a mix of Action Adventure, Free Rome, Sci-Fi, FPS, and RPG (What's not to like right?). It looked great for its release and scored 9's across the bored (On Xbox Mag, IGN, Gamespot, etc.). The only thing is the gameplay is horrid. The frame rates slows every turn you make and (it being an FPS and all) it's almost unplayable. The screen is choppy and it makes aiming a nightmare! There is an auto aim feature but it does close to nothing (if you shoot someones leg it will hit their stomach basically) you just can't play the game when theirs combat, it's just annoying and frustrating. I want to recommend this game because it would have been revolutionary for its time. Too bad, a ...

  • Didn't think I'd like it at first, ended up loving it

I won't write much since some guy already wrote and excellent review. This game was so much fun. It has 4 different endings, depending on the choices you make. You can be stealthy or just use brute force. One point of advice. If you haven't played the original Deus Ex you should either play it or find out the storyline so you don't get completely lost. I originally bought this game off ebay because it was a throw in with another game I bought. I played it just to get my moneys (sp?) worth and ended up loving the game.

  • Deus Ex second game from PC

There are three ways to play or end the game. This is a one shooter and upgrades to the character can be done during play. This game is a post apocalyptic story line as three powerful factions fight to be top dog. There are several ways to counter-play each side to bring a different ending. There may be some glitches in the game and after played so many time it seems that how this game was programed it goes on a self-destruct mode. DO NOT leave game in a pause for very long nor do you just sit the controller down to go get a sandwich or something or else the game will shut off the XBOX console. If this happens too much you may see a fatal error screen and start seeing the red death appear on the console. Then you can kiss your XBOX good-bye or get it repaired. Why this game does this I ...
