Crocodile Dundee (DVD, 2001)
This was one of a few movies that come from the land down under that aren't apocolyptic in nature. Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan), is a bush tracker and sometimes poacher and all-around likable sort of guy who, like so many others, has the knack of stretching an inch into a whole mile. He had an encounter while fishing (more like poaching) with a giant crocodile, which he finally killed, but was seriously injured and left to nature and his own whits to survive. Well, the story got embellished, and blown out of porportion until the news wires reported something totally different. Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski) a Newsday reporter from New York City, travels to the Outback to meet Dundee and get the whole story. She asks him to come back to America, and New York City, for a series of follow-up articles and TV shows. Other than local survival and Out Back living, Mick's life is a blank canvas, having never been anywhere or seen anything. New York is quite a shock, but not as big a shock as he is to New York! This is a naively funny and human sort of film. It contains no profanity and only innocent sexuality.

Mick, a backwoods jungle man, is exposed to the streets of New York City and comes across muggers, dealers, and hookers. His ways of dealing with these people and situations are very humorous. This movie is very entertaining and we found it funny as well as having a lot of action. We saw this movie years ago when it was originally released, and now our 8 year ... After saving Sue from a crocodile, Sue invites Mick to visit New York City, since Mick has never been to a city. Mick finds the culture and life in New York City a lot different than his home and he finds himself falling in love with Sue. This is a extremely entertaining and fun movie. But because of its likable charm and great sense of humor, it's definitely one to see and watch many, many times.Michael J.
