About this product

Product Information

In the acclaimed Codex Alera novels, #1 New York Times bestselling author Jim Butcher has created a fascinating world in which the people of Alera use their unique bond with the elemental forces of nature for protection. But even nature may not be enough to stave off the coming storm... Tavi of Calderon, now recognized as Princeps Gaius Octavian and heir to the crown, has achieved a fragile alliance with Alera's oldest foes, the savage Canim. But when Tavi and his legions guide the Canim to their lands, his worst fears are realized. The dreaded Vord--the enemy of Aleran and Canim alike--have laid waste to the Canim homeland. And the Alerans find themselves trapped alongside their former enemies. Meanwhile, war-torn Alera rebuilds while politicians and nobles vie for power. But from the south comes the news: the Vord have come to Alera. For a thousand years, Alera and her furies have withstood every enemy, and survived every foe. But the thousand years are over...

  • Lighthearted fun and a good romp but basically fluff.

Let's be serious, this series is a lighthearted romp. It's completely fluff. It's hard to put down due to the Pearl White - Perils of Pauline nature of the thing. Cliffhanger at the end of every chapter. Still, a number of times I was thinking, "Will you just get on with it?". Toward the last I was getting pretty impatient with the word fill. The ending was groaningly bad. Seriously? That's the best you can do? That's what all the lead up was for? How totally out of character can you get and not have the reader throw their hands up? Still, it's an entertaining diversion for a few days to plow through. If you can find it at your local library, do that. Good to run through once but you'll definitely not read it twice.

  • Princeps' Fury continues the saga

The codex alera series continues to deliver in this book. Often times book series will feel like the author is trying to stretch out a storyline so that he can fill his commitment on number of books. That is not the case here, the story continues to develop and evolve with new twists and turns and this book is every bit as entertaining as the others.

  • You will not be disappointed, this was a great book!

When I was reading this I thought it was the last in the series. When I realized there was one more I was so happy that it wasn't over yet! I loved every single one of this series, and am now a Jim Butcher fan. I will be reading everything I can get my hands on!

  • great book

Jim Butcher is a wordsmith. Plain and simple. This book might as well have been surgically attatched to my hand until I finished reading it. Intense from beginning to end. If you are into fantasy at all, this should be required reading. Get it.
